Cracking list mate, not much to argue with there. Julian Jackson might make my Top 20 and I'd be tempted to place Hearns even higher.

Can you define composite puncher?

Does it mean best or hardest puncher or effective puncher?

I see some awesome punchers on your list but a list of great punchers that doesn't include Julian Jackson is not a proper list imo.

Holmes' Jab - Cheers, Hearns was higher on my punchers list last time I did one, it's reasonable to have him higher but that could be said for many of the guys around him.

Griffo, Composite is sort of like "all in", so Shavers might be the best HW puncher when stood in front of a fair ground attraction that measures power of delivery, but Dempsey buries him for affective punching in terms of timing, angles, speed, combination punching etc etc etc.

Jackson actually made my list this time, at 20 - but i'd forgotten Wilde. So your man is at 21, which i'm guessing is to low for you?

You MUST run from Tiger to beat him because of his punching ability.

I will admit he is a contriversial choice given my criteria.

Jackson's the single hardest puncher I've ever seen but by your personal criteria I can see why you rate others ahead of him.

Personally I'd have guy's like Jackson,Carlos Zarate,Gerald McClellan,Naseem Hamed,Wifredo Gomez and Danny Lopez on my list but that's just my opinion and your list is still fine.

Throw one together, be interesting to see.

Prince Naseem is a good shout - I will admit I failed to consider him.

Alright here goes (I hate doing lists like this)
1-Joe Louis
2-Thomas Hearns
3-Julian Jackson
4-Mike Tyson
5-Wilfredo Gomez
6-Bob Foster
7-Archie Moore
8-Alexis Arguello
9-George Foreman
10-Lennox Lewis
11-Ruben Olivares
12-Rocky Marciano
13-Gerald McClellan
14-Jack Dempsey
15-Danny Lopez
16-Carlos Zarate
17-Naseem Hamed
18-Sonny Liston
19-Terry McGovern
20-Ricardo Lopez

I'm sure I've overlooked someone really obvious but this was the best I could come up with on short notice.

I know I've got too many Heavies but **** it.I've watched more of them fight than any other division so I'm going to be biased in their favour.

Burley makes this list? Lord Howe!!! Ahead of Zarate, Gomez, Spinks, Arguello and about 29 others? Roy Jones for that matter.

Burley had a greater than 50% KO rating despite the fact he went in against some pretty unknockoutable fighters such as Williams and Coco Kid. He stopped HW's as well as MW's and the man was a welter.

He belongs on this list, possibly higher.

It's a belting short notice list.

And actually, I think that there should be plenty of HW's on a punchers list (everyone in my top 5 fought at HW at some time or another). Great HW's will tend to have the power end of things sorted, so if they have a good dose of the rest - delivery, speed, arsenal, whatever it may be - they are worthy of consideration.

Incidently Burley also made the Ring's Top 100 Greatest Punchers of All Time, came in at 86. There's been some good punchers since they compiled that, i dare say half a dozen have jumped him.
