I'd say Lyle stops him. Old Foreman was never that good. Better then a Gerry Cooney or Moorer but these guys weren't consistent. He failed to be an elite figure of the 90s

It just proves that any half decent pro who weighs 200lbs+ can KO any other fighter at a given moment. Sparring or not.

Foreman had a brilliant chin, but he could still be caught and badly hurt, even in a proper fight I remember Ken Lakusta had him going.

it was not a real fight, foreman did not take this bum seriously, oliver mccall dropped tyson in a sparring session, jimmy ellis knocked ali out in a sparring session. morrison knocked bowe out.

I would like to think that nobody would have knocked out Old George.

The man just didn't waste any energy.

Mentally, the Old George was so much stronger.

Even the likes of a Peak Sonny Liston?
Chuvalo was not a sharp or fast puncher and was very easy to hit...
Chuvalo disagrees with you...I have heard him state a few times that while he agrees that he was blessed with a great chin...he was deceptive in his defense and rarely got hit flush.
Prehaps its not humanly possible to go 100+ fights as a heavyweight, never be knocked down, and have a poor defense.

I wonder how much Cooney really hurt him...George kinda looked mainly off balance...but the announce (closer to the action) seemed to think he was stunned. Clancey (?) told Cooney he had him hurt also (for what thats worth...)

He was always mentally strong. Even in his bad performances he always showed heart. I admit that Ali ruined him mentally after their bout but Foreman came back to have a great scrap with a prime Holyfield & win back a hvy title. As far as this thread goes, Foreman got hurt by Holyfield badly but Holy's speedy combinations gave Big George problems. Lyle COULD hurt an Old George and possibly stop him but I see George taking this. He was a much smarter fighter when he was older and added "covering up" to his defensive strategies. Pushing was basically his defense when he was prime lol.

76 Lyle against 91 Foreman would of been interesting. George was a lot more relaxed and a bit cuter with the punches, and indeed defence. His chin was good, but not bullet proof; he sparked badly in sparring around this time, so he would have to be careful.

My guess is Lyle probably just outlasts Foreman to edge a very close 10 round decision.
What exactly happened? Did George get dropped? KO'd?

Brewster knocked out Lewis... I know it was sparring. But my point is, no fighter is invincible, any decent fighter weighing 200lbs+ could get that bomb in that drops any other Heavyweight.

Foreman showed in fights he could be hurt, it was shown in sparring he could be decked. So fighting prime Ron Lyle, this has to be factored in.

Read this: Earlier on the card, 41-year-old George Foreman easliy dominated Hassan Shabazz of Hillcrest Heights, Md., in a three-round exhibition tune-up for his Jan. 15 match with Gerry Cooney.

Foreman would still beat Lyle.
