It's been already said that anyone could make anyone look bad in 2 rounds of sparring. Greb did it to Dempsey but I doubt Greb would have lasted 5+ rounds in a pro fight with him. The same is true with a 19yr old Clay and a very experienced Ingo in an actual fight.
It would all come down to timing. The jab and the hammer. |

No reason to doubt the authenticity of the session. The nineteen year old Cassius Clay may well have still been a novice at this juncture,but his phenomenal speed was already evident.

Just a clarification on the 1961 'sparring session for publicity'. Funny how some will state that a young Cassius Clay 'embarrassed' INGO without knowing any of the facts, other than reading a couple of incorrect articles, and seeing some excerpts of a 'press release tape' for local Miami Televison Stations. Yet forget, that a 'shaky' Cody Jones floored Cassius Clay for a 10-Count, 4-days before his bout with Sonny Liston in February 1964. |
