Default How Did You Score Hopkins Losses?

Here are my scorecards for his 5 losses excluding his first fight against Clinton Mitchell.

Bernard Hopkins Vs. Jermain Taylor 1 ****Sorry no scorecard I deleted it by mistake

115-113 Jermain Taylor (Jermain Taylor clearly won this fight)

Jermain Taylor Vs. Bernard Hopkins II

1. 10-9
2. 10-9
3. 10-9
4. 10-9
5. 9-10
6. 10-9
7. 9-10
8. 10-9
9. 9-10
10. 9-10
11. 10-9
12. 9-10

115-113 Jermain Taylor (Although closer than their first fight, I still had the same scorecard, it could have been a draw but in no way did Hopkins do enough to win the fight) (I have to say the judges in the two Hopkins/Taylor fights did a good job at scoring the fights, except for that one judge who scored the first fight for Hopkins 116-112...wtf was he watching?)

Jean Pascal Vs. Bernard Hopkins

1. 10-8
2. 9-10
3. 10-8
4. 9-10
5. 10-9
6. 9-10
7. 9-10
8. 9-10
9. 9-10
10. 9-10
11. 9-10
12. 9-10

115-111 Bernard Hopkins (Bernard Hopkins clearly won this fight)

Joe Calzaghe Vs. Bernard Hopkins

1. 8-10
2. 9-10
3. 9-10
4. 10-9
5. 10-9
6. 10-9
7. 10-9
8. 9-10
9. 10-9
10. 10-9
11. 9-10
12. 10-9

114-113 Joe Calzaghe (Close fight but I think Calzaghe deserved it a little more than Hopkins. It is however one of the most boring fights I have ever seen)

Roy Jones Vs. Bernard Hopkins

1. 10-9
2. 10-9
3. 10-9
4. 10-9
5. 10-9
6. 9-10
7. 10-9
8. 9-10
9. 10-9
10. 10-9
11. 10-9
12. 10-10

118-111 Roy Jones (Jones easily won this fight. Out of all Hopkins career he was definitely hit more cleanly and more damaging to the body and head than any other fight he's had besides Pascal. Where he was knocked down twice.)

I thought he got robbed in the first Taylor fight...the second was closer but still thought he edged it.

Debatable. But it's no question in my mind that Bernard Hopkins definitely got robbed in the Pascal fight, no mother****ing question.

RJJ is the only man to clearly beat Hopkins without leaving question marks

Yep, Jones was just landing the more significant and powerful punches each round in that fight. A couple of time when Hopkins came in with his signature right hand, before you know it Jones clocks Hopkins with two powerful punches before Hopkins can throw his.

I thought the Pascal fight was closer than either fight with Taylor. Had Calzaghe edging him by a point the 1 time I watched it.

I had him winning both Taylor fights, Pascal, and losing to Calzaghe (which is the worst and saddest performance of his career IMO). I think the Jones loss was closer than most. A tactical, boring fight which neither elevated or hurt either fighter. Jones won it clearly, but it certainly didnt warrant Jones ducking Hopkins for years claiming he kicked Hopkins ass.

The Calzaghe fight was terrible, but I still had Hopkins winning it handily.

Jones beat Hopkins 8-4 in rounds.
I thought Hopkins beat Mercado the first time around with something like 8 rounds to four with the knockdowns making it closer.
Hopkins beat Taylor 7-5 the first time. The second one I had it 5-5-2 if I remember right.
I had Hopkins-Calzaghe 6-6 in rounds with the knockdown swinging the fight in Hopkins favour.
I thought Hopkins won the Pascal fight rather clearly, 8-3-1 if not for the knockdowns which made it closer.

I had Hopkins winning the Taylor rematch, with the first being a draw. I had him beating Calzaghe and Pascal. Jones I had winning 116-112.

I had him beating Pascall WIDE, thought he beat Calzaghe but was punished for negativity and maybe because they thought he was on his way out, the Taylor fights I thought he gave away the early rounds and lost but I have no intention of rewatching either, Mercado 1 he beat him 9-3 imo and should have been given a KD himself, Jones won wide

Taylor I - had him winning by 2
Taylor II - had him winning by 5
Calzaghe - had him winning by 4
Pascal - had him winning by 3, didn't score it closely though
Jones - had him losing by 8

Taylor I - had it a draw
Taylor II - had Hopkins by 2
Calzaghe- had Hopkins by 4
Jones 1 - can't remember exactly and haven't kept the card, but I think I had it to Jones by 5

Pascal - had it to Hopkins by 2 or 3

Therefore, I had Hopkins going 3-1-1 in a run where he really went 0-4-1.

Yup, in an era where judges are obsessed with 'workrate', Hopkins's cleaner, more effective punching has definitely been unfairly overlooked.

damn, i'm bucking the trend

taylor 1 and 2: 115-113 for taylor
calzaghe: 114-113 for calzaghe (i believe)
pascal: only scored up to 11th round but 7-4 hopkins (being generous to pascal, easily could have been 8-3)
