The will he exerted in that match exhausted him so much that he ended up in the hospital for about a week. I'm away from my library so it's difficult to reference.

Frazier was uniquely talented ...

He had exceptional stamina ... his bob and weave style was deceptively effective from a defensive stand point. His heart was second to none ... he had a terrific chin ... what so many here simply either do not know or refuse to acknowledge was that he fought his whole professional career blind in one eye. This is fact. For a man to fight Joe's style , blind in one eye, you are going to get tagged ...

His left hook was tremendous and his right far from non-existent (another ridiculous rumor) he had one and it was effective howewver he simply lived by his hook ...

Joe was a warrior and one of the best pound for pound heavyweights that ever lived ...

Certainly a very good fighter, but overall as grossly overrated a professional fighter as you will ever find in the sports history. One man who's entire legacy is based and reliant upon that of another man's legacy.

Overall,he was a very good heavyweight, but he falls short in comparison to the elite fighters within the divisions history.Too many fighters tha he conveniently missed out on fighting, and not enough truly great wins to compensate for it.Also lacked a truly dominant title reign when compared to recent heavyweight greats like Mike Tyson and Wladimir Klitschko.

It's just like how Mike Tyson broke his back and nobody ever gave him the credit for battling through this handicap.Rather than glorify him, they mocked and ridiculed him.

That never say die attitude that he had. He kept getting up,while being slaughtered by George Foreman, and standing up to the serious hurt that Muhammad Ali put on him over three fights. And of course, that peach of a left hook.

That great left hook, his fierceness in the ring, and the ability to take punishment.Outside of it, he was a man's man, which Ali was probably somewhat jealous of.

It was his heart, determination, and left hook that made him stand out amongst the other heavyweights. His heart and determination was proven time and time again, even when getting battered by George Foreman he was repeatedly getting up and whinging his left hook. Not many fighters would have the heart and determination to get up and keep swinging at a prime George Foreman the way Frazier did.

Former heavyweight world champion Joe Frazier was arrested in February 2004 after police responded to a 911 domestic violence call from his North Philadelphia home. When police arrived a woman, the mother of Frazier's son, answered the door. She told the police that Frazier had hit her and there were injuries to her face to back up the claim. The charges were later dropped, after the woman refused to testify against Frazier

A "man's man" indeed.
