Let's not forget, George had a very quick and short amateur career.

He only had 19-bouts, before entering the 1968 Pre-Olympic tournament.

R/T,

The 'BLACK INGO" moniker only lasted for a short time in 1970.

It was right after he TKO'd George Chuvalo in 3 Rounds at Madison Square Garden in 1970.

Chuvalo was ranked #3 at the time, and was excpected to extend Big George.

Ingo was an okay boxer but I would never rate him as one of the top 20. I think FLoyd underastemated him and wqas caught by the hammer and could never recover from it.
The third fight was their best I think but. Floyd was the better one of them. Here in Sweden Ingo is a legend of course, but honestly, if he had fought Liston or Ali or Frazier he would have been destroyed. Ali played with him in sparring.

I'm not sure if Black Ingo is more accurate than White Tyson but both strike me as brilliant.

Ingemar had done pretty much the same thing to Eddie Machen in his previous fight.
I'd say Ingo underestimated Patterson in the rematch, and was just plain finished by the third match.
If both of them were at their perfect bests, I'd call it a 50-50 fight at best for Floyd, and probably give a slight edge to Ingo.
In other respects, I can see how Patterson is the better fighter.

Strange, since there hadn't been a white champion since Ingemar Johansson !
And just about all Americans had supported Patterson in his return matches against the Swede, of course.

They'd had Patterson, Liston, Ali, Ellis and Frazier .... and Foreman's the "Black Hope" ?
Yeah, I can't figure that out either.

Foreman wasn't looked upon with any fondness by the Black spokesmen with his flag waving..compared to those "fists in the air" Olympians.

True,,,,,

Big George got off to a 'rocky start' publicity wise at the beginning of his career.

Made his pro debut on June 23, 1969 at Madison Square Garden, on
the undercard of the Joe Frazier - Jerry Quarry World Title Championship.

The 1968 Olympic Champion was not given a warm reception.

I never liked Big G supporting teh white conservative establishment with his flag waving, he was almost sticking it to his fellow brothers.

Yeah, but they were all wearing USA outfits and representing America anyway.
If Foreman was making a pro-establishment gesture by waving the US flag I think those black power salute guys should have at least been wearing all black, or maybe got themselves a Soviet flag !
Better yet, they could have discarded their USA outfits on the podium, and let their militant BBCs swing for the cameras.
