Default Question about Bob Fitzsimmons's Training

My father seems fairly certain of a story he heard about Bob Fitzsimmons setting up a mock smithy in his training camp, where he'd hammer out horseshoes for strength and conditioning. However, I've heard nothing further, and there was nothing about it in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]or his chapter in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

There are pictures of Fitzsimmons working with a hammer on an anvil.

I thought those might have been from his days as an actual blacksmith?

Bob used to make and hand out shoes to his fans while in camp.
