only thing to point out about Glazkov is he needs to work on his Stamina a little....other than that very good performance from him

I had it 7-1 Glazkov....only the last round went to Bakhtov IMO due to Glazkov tiring pretty badly...

A 7-1 win for Glazkov is impressive. This is the first time Glazkov went past 4 rounds. He'll learn how to pace himself a bit.

Good fight, but completely overshadowed by Rahimov-Nagaev. (and probably now Pirog-Maciel)

It might not be so encouraging for you as a Glazkov fan when you see it.

He deserved the win, and it IS a good win...but...

There were some hairy moments.

He showed some serious flaws.

Glaz looked good in my eyes. Bakhtov tried for brawl but Glazkov was very calm and minced Bahktov´s face with counter-hooks.

Glaz was the matador who first wore out the raging bull but still lacked the skill to deliver the killing strike. Still Glaz propably won every round (wasn´t writing every round down, instead I was drinking beer and just enjoying the fight).

Good description of the action, but I thought the bull won a couple of the rounds where matador kept his sword sheathed.

Unfortunately, I had no medium to watch this (hope it comes on youtube) but in any event, this is Glazkov's 7th pro fight, and Bahtov, for his part, defines a tough gatekeeper. The idea of a fight likethis is to give the prospect a chance to make some mistakes to be corrected later, but still get a good win.

I see Chakiev won one tonight too.

I watched the fight now on Youtube. I must admit i am a fan of Glazkov and like the way he boxes, but this was his toughest and longest pro fight so there was the bad side exposed too, although he won every round in my eyes. He is ready to box for no more than 4 rounds and that's a big stamina problem that probably unabled him from winning this fight by KO. He puts those hands a little bit too much low and IDK if that's conditioning problem too, but that's something he should work on. And as always he showed a good foundation and footwork that comes from the amateur days, Great Jab and Balance, good uppercuts and a vicious left hook.
IF he works hard and improves his conditioning he will be a TOP heavyweight in the near future.

Alright i knew i disagreed with you but i wanted to watch it again and pay attention to what you mentioned to see what you pointed out.

- The only round you could even remotely make a case for giving Bakhtov is round 8 and even that is unreasonable as he was still outlanded and Glazkov was in control for probably 2:30 of that round.

- Hairy moments? Ludacrious. The worst moment was with 1:00 left in round 8 and Bakhtov didn't even land his right before they clinched.

Defense - Glazkov does keep his left low, so? Any half decent fighter should be able to keep his left low and be capable of slipping, rolling with, simply stepping out of range, or bringing his left black up to block with. All things which Glazkov does.

When Bakhtov did get on the insde, which was a rare thing, Glazkov would bring his left up to block Bakhtov's right. It's something he can be seen doing just about every time Bakhtov throws his right on the inside.

I disagree with your "lingering in the pocket" opinion too. He's very good at judging and controlling range. His jab and footwoork are very solid and are also assets with this too. He simply takes a half step back and makes Bakhtov miss with many of his right hands.

Bakhtov lands one solid right in the 7th that Glazkov was rolling with and about 3 in the 8th. He landed maybe 6 clean rights the whole fight....

This is bigger than just this one fight regarding holding your left low. For the first 70+ years of Boxing that was the norm. The notion that you have to keep your left hand pressed against your cheek is absurd. Guys like AA or Huck are ****ing incompetent on defense in spite of what alot of people say about their "great D". They can't slip, roll with punches, or counterpunch. There are guys like Chambers, Dzinziruk, Pirog, Winky who use a high guard along with various degrees of upperbody movement and the other things i mentioned and can counterpunch. Defense is one aspect of boxing that i do think has devolved in the modern era even for alot of top Pros.
