good point about Gamboa. We'll see!

I just hope Donaire gets in another fight or two before the end of the year.

Why is Arum to blame if a fighter of his still under contract goes off and signs with Golden Boy?

And if you're relating your question to Arum not getting him fights, Donaire is fresh off the biggest win of his career and was supposed to fight a unification fight next for 500K.

I think Arum SHOULD HAVE put Donaire on Pac's undercard, for long term results. IMO Pac should not be so cheap as to insist on not having another Filipino star (lesser one) on the card.
I agree, and I'm sure Arum would've loved to put Donaire on the Pac undercards because it's an easy way for him to build up Donaire and make more money with him, but Arum's not going to piss off Manny for anyone less than Manny. Donaire and his wife were just a little too cocky and I think they rubbed the Pacquiao's the wrong way. Not good to piss off the guy with all the power.

I am trying to understand from Golden Boy's point of view what I would have to gain from signing a boxing star who still has a valid contract with Top Rank, knowing fully well that litigation with ensue.

Also, I want to know what Cameron Dunkin has said about all this.

Exactly. Donaire and his wife can't expect to be on Pac's undercards and also expect to get paid what they want. The money just isn't there when you have a guy like Pac being gauranteed 10-15 million, and his opponent also getting multiple millions.

Is there any chance? Yes. Do I think so? No.
I mean they must have known that Top Rank extended their contract with Donaire into 2012. Even I knew just from reading a few interviews on the internet.

There's a big chance that with Donaire putting forward such a great performance worthy of a superstar on HBO, they felt threatened and decided that they would do anything in their power to put the breaks on Donaire's success.

I just read another interview where Arum specifically says that Top Rank's agreement with Golden Boy over the whole Pacquiao issue has a clause that says that Golden Boy cannot poach Top Rank's fighters.

So basically it looks like Golden Boy have no intention of putting Donaire in big fights, but rather are just trying to stall his career to deal a blow to Top Rank. To prevent Top Rank from having another cash cow in their ranks.

What's sad in all this is that the one who is truly gonna suffer is Nonito.
I agree with you! You have uncovered Oscar's plan to get even with Manny Pacquiao. Oscar has fueled the Pacquiao/Donaire situation by making Nonito feel jealous of Manny Pacquiao. Nonito has a left hook that can knock out a welterweight but he doesn't have the intelligence of Manny Pacquiao. Nonito should have asked Manny for advice instead of sending his wife to speak against Manny.

Costing time and money? It's called doing their job. This isn't the first time nore will it be the last time contract dispute will arise from someone they want or someone wanting to leave them. The lawyers doing the contract are their books are paid regardless.

“The judge agreed that Golden Boy had violated the agreement and issued an order that Golden Boy is enjoined, restrained, from purporting to promote Donaire at this time. They can not proceed under that contract at this time.

you were saying?

The only way Donaire can get back into Arums good graces is if he re-signs/extends his contract with TR (if it's legally possible). Otherwise, he won't be fighting at all or will be fighting meaningless fights until his current contract runs out.

Then fight the meaningless fight as long as he stays active. One more year to go at 250k a fight isn't bad.

Now he maybe looking at a year and 0$.
