Chuck liddell is a big lhw with fantastic take down defence, had great conditioning and a good chin, he also has very good recovery. Jones leaves himself open to counterattack if liddell lands that right hand it could spell trouble for jones. the problem for liddel in fighting jones would be jones's speed and superior reach but we still dont know if jones can take a big punch like the ones liddell would land at some point on him. I think its too early to tell at the moment. |

Chuck fought quite a few strikers overeem, belfort and pele. Rampage was the only one who simply outstuck chuck and finished him in Liddell's prime (couture did outstike chuck when coming in for the takedown but it was the takedowns that got him the victory) |

Pele was two divisions lower than him. He looked like a giant when they fought. And compare that list to the amount of wrestlers he fought and you have a clear disparity.

Prime Liddell was having a bit of difficulty with smallish but semi unconventional Tiger white. This fights a joke. Theres a reason Chuck retired, he didnt want too but he want the Shogun x2 beating.

true pele was much smaller than Chuck but pele was still outstriking chuck than liddell used his wrestling to gain the advantage, this was very early in Liddels MMA career only Chucks second fight back in 1998! Also I could add wandy to the list since both chuck and wandy were past their primes it should equal out...right. Last edited by yaca you; 03-21-2011 at 11:43 AM. |

If Chuck wasn't prime in the 1st Rampage fight, then when exactly was he prime? For the 7 fights in 3 years in between his 1st beating from Rampage and his 2nd beating from Rampage? Congratulations Chuck, you had one of the shortest and most convenient primes in MMA history, it started after a loss (Rampage 1), occurred when you were on a short winning streak, then ended before another loss (Rampage 2). Talk about rewriting history to suit yourself... |

well it works with tyson.
Not that I am agreeing or anything Rampage had a style to beat chuck with very good power and counterpunching. Of course rampage has good wrestling too. |

I'd still pick Liddell at this point because Jones' chin hasn't been tested yet. He might crumble once he gets cracked for all we know. Liddell would have taken those three shots to land that one right hand on Jones' chin and then it's GOODNIGHT IRENE!
Again these fantasy matchups are pretty goofy. |
