Denial is a bitch. There's no point in arguing with them. The only way that they will concede the fact that Jones is a nightmare match up for Rua is if he wins a rematch in similar fashion. The sad thing is that if they ever fight again, Shogun would take an even worse beating because Jones is still growing by leaps and bounds as a fighter and probably isn't anywhere near peaking. If a fighter bursts into the scene next year with the athleticism of a Ndamukong Shu and was also an all American wrestler to boot, heck Id be the first one to say that maybe the evolution process of the sport is accelerating fast and Jon Jones is no longer an anomaly. |

From the horse's mouth, Shogun: "I'm disgusted. JJ hits hard and the first knee was the problem."

Thus proving that Shogun may have been 100% going into the fight, and we would never have known because of that knee. The Shogun that destroyed Rampage could have showed up that night, but it wouldn't have mattered, because that knee took him out of the fight within 6 seconds.

![]() ![]() ![]() If the version of shogun that beat rampage was in there we'll all be talking that jon jones was too green and all hype up cuz shogun would have DESTROYED HIM. ![]() We're talking about a guy who beat OVEREEM AND ARONA on the same night. THE SAME FREAKING NIGHT. |

Problem with Shogun is that his technique kinda suck. Hes a strong guy but he just wings wide punches (same with Wand) and if youre not overwhelmed by that, then hes pretty ordinary. His defense is horrid as well, hes wide open. His takedowns are average and TD defense weak and his JJ is more of a defense scrambling type.
In Pride, he was able to beat some opponents by sheer aggression and he does have some power. He was able to do so because hes a pretty durable fighter who can take a punch. He is built like Marco Ruas, he has a very durable rubbery body type, very tough and he receives some shots and he dishes out some punishment and he usually comes out on top. If you rewatch the Overeem fight, he was getting outstruck but he hung on just enough. Frankly this style isnt going to last in todays MMA when the techniques are getting better exponentially by the day. I give him the Machida fight, he had the perfect gameplan and Machida didnt have the style to counter it. |

Your screen name is fitting. With all of the excuses that some fans make about inconsistencies in his performance, Shogun is turning into the new Vitor. |

it ****s up your routine. Let's see if bones can defend that title first before we start talking about how no one can beat this dude. Machida-rampage-evans-davis-rejuvenated shogun etc. i doubt he'll be keeping that belt that long. |

Answer = he was in much better shape vs Machida.... its clear as day to anyone that doesnt have a hardon for jones that Rua was not in his best shape. Would Jones have won anyway ?... possibly more than probably, let Shogun get another 2 fights under his belt injury free & win or lose vs Jones you will see a massive difference |

The problem here is that Shogun got brutally destroyed and tapped. If you think that he is going to do much better against Jones when he has the psychological damage done by the fight to contend with added to the significant physical advantages Jones has in every area and the fact Jones is getting better ever single day he trains then I don't know what to tell you.
