For my money Futch is the greatest! Second is Billy Delaney.

One top of that he trained Sixto Escobar, Teddy Yaroz, Jimmy Braddock, Peppermint Frasier, Tony Zale, Billy Soose and the outstanding Jackie Kid Berg. For me that merits mention as the best trainer ever, possibly tied with Futch. Thoughts.
Steward is vastly overrated as a trainder. Futch a bit overrated . Roach is underrated just like the fighters of the last 30 years or so.

I've always felt he was the greatest trainer.

Ray said it right when he said "if your guy can't fight you're just another bum in the park". AIn time a good trainer can help a decent fighter became good - or better and a bad trainer can make a good fighter become decent - or worse... But the fighter makes the trainer 75 percent of the time.

But if you're a bad trainer then you aint gonna last long. Certainly not as long as Arcel, Brown, Futch, Dundee, Steward etc.

Ray Arcel would be either one or two all time with Eddie Futch with Dunde 3.
