Jon Olav Einemo vs. Shane Carwin (UFC 131)

Weird, unexpected match. If you don't know who JOE is, he is a world class grappler that is the only person to defeat Roger Gracie at ADCC. He has little MMA experience, with his only notable fights being against James Thompson (who he subbed in the first round) and Werdum (who he lost to via UD). He hasn't had an MMA match since 2006. He is obviously being brought in to get smashed by Carwin, but he is a live underdog considering his grappling prowess. He will likely be suffering from extreme ring rust, however.

i'm just glad Carwin finally got a fight, there really isn't too many quality fighters that want to fight him right now or were available.

The UFC signed this guy to a multi fight contract a few months ago. I couldn't understand the decision behind it then. But this was quite some time before the SF acquisition. Not a fight that makes any sense to me. Unless they're trying to build Carwin again. Problem is most UFC fans won't have a clue who he is and he hasn't fought in years. Last time i saw him was at PRIDE 31 - which by the way was a FUCKING AWESOME card! And that was at least 5 or more years ago?!?!

but hasnt fought since late 2006
he has beat josh thompson lol
and was beat by fabricio werdum
record is 6-1

This is like some old school freakshow fight. It'll either be a KO or a sub, whoever gets to do their thing first. Kinda boring seeing a a top grappler sub a lousy grappler or a strong puncher crush a shitty stand up fighter.

This. This fight kind of reminds of when Nastula fought Barnett. Great grappler against an established top 10 heavy with little to no background in MMA. Nastula got pretty much steam rolled. The difference is Olav has GREAT BJJ. Matter of fact he fights out of Golden Glory so who knows may be his striking is even better too? May be Joe Silva's seen something no one else has.....
If this goes to the mat which im expecting, unless Carwin can get in his guard and get some crucial GnP he's getting subbed. Even inside his guard Olav is VERY dangerous. Don't see what Carwin can gain here though. He beats him so what. He looses? O shit!
