I think it is Jake, who Satan's afraid will kick him out of his house and home if he dies. One his deathbed, Dempsey reassured his soon to be widow, "Don't worry Honey, I'm too mean to die." As it turned out, Jack really wasn't, but LaMotta might be. Around the time Jake and Vikki provided commentary for the Resto-Colllins criminal assault, they explored a reconciliation. Vikki soon nixed it, when she discovered after a very short while that he was, "the same old Jake." This is the same Raging Bull who makes Lucifer shit bricks. LaMotta is the entity that Satanists pray for salvation from.

The oldest living member of the IBHOF is Jimmy Bivins, over a year and a half older than Jake, who many of us here have Emailed salutations to. In contrast to LaMotta's image, Jimmy seems to be a sweet natured man with a very pleasant disposition.

I agree what you said about Jimmy Bivins. I met, talked and even had the pleasure of introducing him in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey when we put up a monument for Joe Louis. That is where Louis trained.

Bivins was very nice and we talked for a while.

The oldest claimant might be David Kui Kong Young, if he is still living, who was born on December 5, 1916. He was recognized by some as the Bantamweight Champion of the World.

It dosent say anywhere that hes dead, so he must be the oldest champion to be alive today.

No, Schmeling holds that record. Max wanted to reach 100, but fell around eight months short in 2005. McLarnin was a couple months short of 97 when he passed in 2004.

So near as I can determine, Johnny Wilson was the first to reach 90, and was aiming for it. In an interview he granted around 1981, he said, "All I've got to do is outlive Dempsey, and I've got it made!" (The article I read about that included a B & W photograph of an older Wilson. If taken at the time of the interview, it must be said that he appeared to be in excellent condition for a man of his age.)

Old man Evander keeps on fightin' though, to pay the mansion bills.

Besides, he's "stronger than ever", said so himself.

I Hope he is still amongst us.I saw the great Jimmy Bivens at MSG fight a draw with tough Melio Bettina. I have always felt that Jimmy Bivens was a modern version of Sam Langford. Same body structure, long arms and fighting
the top bigger men.Ah what a trio, Charles, Moore and Jimmy Bivens in the 1940s...Would they clean up today's L.Heavies.

Woah, Jimmy Bivins is still with us!

I remember an article in Ring or BI some years ago where he was found stuck away in an attic room or something, being mis-treated by his son-in-law. I may have forgotten some of the finer points but I'm sure it was Jimmy Bivins.
