Who takes it during their primes, and who would take it if they fought today? Personally, I think David would beat Shannon, regardless of when they fought.

Wow close, both huge punchers, I think Briggs of 97-98 beats Tua of 96 but only because Tua was little one dimensional but could go either way

Tua by TKO6.
The first 3 rounds would be an intense 50-50 slugfest of huge bombs, but after that shannon starts to gass & Tua takes over, flooring a brave Briggs a couple of times, then battering him against the ropes as the ref jumps in to halt the assault on his exhausted body. |

Prime for prime, Tua. Superior chin, more able to carry his power late, and an all around more seasoned and accomplished fighter.
Who would win right now when they're both shot isn't a question I care enough about to consider. |

Tua is a better fighter but he can be hurt and Briggs really can hit like a mofo. I wouldn't write off Briggs, but I favor Tua too. Now? I don't know. In their late thirties, several years past their best, hard to predict.

Tua knocks out Briggs, whether they fought in 1992 or 2011. Shannon leaves himself open and lacks defense in certain areas...it always bothers me when I watch him fight. But anyway, Tua gets the duke, either by landing a terrific left hook counter, or stepping up the pace once Shannon begins to tire by round 5 or so.

These guys were supposed to fight. They fought in separate bouts on the night of the young heavyweights card where Tua starched John Ruiz. Briggs gassed out and got stopped by Darrol Wilson. Tua knocked Wilson out in one or two rounds. Tua would have killed Briggs in one or two rounds.
