I know that people also call it the "Severn choke" when you use the GABLE GRIP on a RNC... but I was explaining the technical term. |

Sometimes you just can't get your arm deep enough. For an effective RNC you need the bend of your elbow sitting right in from of their throat, so your forearm is cutting off the blood on one side of the neck, and your bicep is taking care of the other. If you just can't get your arm deep enough you can switch to the gable grip and squeeze with the ridge of your wrist across their throat, it's a throat crush, which is a very unpleasant way to choke someone.
It's not as tight as a proper RNC but you can make it work. |
