Default Controversial boxing opinions

We've all got em. Come here and let them out!

The rules are simply, no judging. If somebody quotes your controversial statement with anything other than good natured fun, ignore it. This is supposed to be fun.

Here are a few of mine:
Chris Byrd had the style to give Lennox Lewis fits and may have upset him had they met after Byrds victory over Tua, when Lennox was really starting to slow.

Jack Dempsey was a champion and has a high place in boxing history, but wasn't as great a fighter as often stated, and I think film and results both show it.

Can rate Harry Greb quite high, but without film, I can never see if he was as good as Robinson, so he will always rate 2nd. Always.

Rocky Marciano loses to every other heavyweight he shares the top 10 list with. I have him at 6.

Had Felix Sturm got the title shot instead of Oscar De La Hoya, he'd have won a close decision.

Have at it!

Didn't say if it wasn't a bad decision or not.

Whew...here goes nuthin'.
I think Monzon would have given Foster a tough fight. (Can't quite say he pulls it off though) Reason being, Monzon could step to the right very well, and punch while he did it. Monzon clocks Conteh...reason being? Tougher and better.

Barney Ross should be rated as a top three lightweight on ability.

The Benny Leonard who was disqualified against Britton, could have outpointed the Mickey Walker who beat Britton at welterweight.

I think Aaron Pryor is sold way too short on here...(but I love Pryor though)

I think Dick Tiger beats any middleweight who comes straight at him.

Hopkins is the best defensive technician of the middleweights of all time.

Bennie Briscoe would beat Tony Zale.

Toney and McCallum would have been worthy additions to the 40's Black Murderer's Row.

From the film seen and available, a pre-prime Roy Jones Jr would have easily beat the socks off of George Chip, who reportedly outpointed a pre-prime Harry Greb.

If at his best, Dick Tiger beats Marvin Hagler. Hagler very easily could win a rematch, but my pick is Tiger the first time they meet.

Ezzard Charles is every bit as great as Henry Armstrong, if not greater

I think Gavilan edges a decision against Leonard at Welterweight.

If it ever happens, Pacquiao beats Mayweather without much difficulty.

Evander Holyfield can be rated as high as #3 on an ATG Heavyweight list, and I consider him to be a greater fighter in general than any Heavyweight champion ever other than those two and Charles.

Julio Cesar Chavez would have beat Whitaker in 89.

Mike Dokes could have been one of the top 10 greatest heavies ever.

Bernard Hopkins is a good not great fighter with skills that douchebag fightnerds over-appreciate to impress their friends, despite the fact Hopkins is only marginally effective in his fights using these techniques... I call it the Jersey Joe Syndome.

H2H Lewis beats everyone exept Holmes and Ali

Julio Cesar Chavez is slightly overated, in the Taylor IMO any other ref would have just grabbed Taylors gloves , he lost to Whitaker CLEARLY

Bert cooper is probably the hardest hitter of all time

VS Holmes and Ali I think he runs into trouble as guys with good jab's seem to bother him, I think it would be close either way

Holmes never fought a giant like him who could put together a proper game plan and hit as hard consistently with the right hand. Plus, I think Lewis' jab would bother Holmes.

Ali is just overrated and would be out of his depth.

The top 8 or so heavyweights of the 70's were essentially equals, despite what judges and public opinion said.

Muhammad Ali is often a boring, boring fighter to watch.

Ali beats every great heavyweight head to head, but struggles with some less than awesome ones in the same sense.

Tommy Hearns could never beat Ray Leonard prime for prime.

Roberto Duran, if he did it smart, could have moved up even further in weight than he did.

Bernard Hopkins could beat small heavyweights.

Keep em coming!
