Default Mayweather's drwaing power.

His fight with Gatti did good PPV numbers and people said it was because of Gatti

His fight with Judah did well and people said that it was because of Judah (despite Judah never having a PPV before or after that fight)

His fight with DLH did well and people said it was because of DLH, I'll concede that DLH is the bigger draw but his biggest PPV to that point against another huge PPV star had only done 1.2 million buys so I am gussing that Floyd had something to do with the record breaking 2.2 million buys.

I don't know but I am pretty sure that his fight with Baldomir did over 300,000 buys and I don't think anyone can give baldomir credit on that one.

Isn't it time that people recognize that floyd does put up good numbers?

Yeah definetly. And I think he has even more drawing power now after beating Delahoya and being on that Dancing with the stars show and also the 24/7 shows because those are kinda fun to watch lol

A lot of it has to do with people wanting to see him lose. But I garantee you that even in the UK where Ricky is the draw more people will tune in for this fight than they have for any of Ricky's other fights

I would say Mayweather possesses drawing power comparable to MS Paint.

I guess the impression of Floyd not having drawing power is due to the often low attendance in the arenas.

But he usually has done good PPV totals, and more money is from PPV revenue than ticket sales (though I'm not counting food, souvenirs, etc..which I don't know how much an arena makes).

Goes to show people don't know shit. 2.2 million for a piece of shit like DLH vs Mayweather and only 300K for an amazing fight like Cotto vs Judah

The low attendance is from fights where he was fighting in the most random places. I wouldnt expect him to pull big ticket sales in Miami or Portland especially if that wasnt their hometown. Almost all of his fights in Vegas fill out nice and his last three fights in Grand Rapids had over 10,000 in attendance. Not to bad for a pre-PPV lightweight champion; you have to consider he was just another fighter back then. HBO didnt put Gatti-Ward II or III on PPV and they were tremendously popular. A fight with Mayweather seemed to be sufficient enough though. The ticker sales for Mayweather-Judah we're just over 3 million in the first week. Drawing power is ridiculous because it's Oscar then everyone else waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy below.

There are only a handful of athletes in general that generate as much interest as Oscar. Pacquiao and Morales didnt break 400k in any of their three fights with all the hype behind them. Who else has numbers compared to 325k, 365k, 375k, and 2.4 million? I mean clearly Oscar is confident Floyd can sell fights.

I've repeatedly seen people predict Pacquiao, Cotto, and Hatton to do 600k buys. As if Trinidad does big numbers because of his fans in Puerto Rico. You could be a living god in a country and still do 200k. Take a wild guess why HBO wouldnt put Hatton on PPV? PPV buy numbers we see are strictly U.S. cable systems.

if you are the #1 fighter in the sport youre going to draw at least decent numbers.

RJJ was getting decent ppv numbers to fight glen kelly and derrick harmon if I remember correctly.

Fights are most interesting when you have someone to root for. When Mayweather fights, I root against him. He benifits because people want to see him get beat.

You become a major draw by being very liked or by being very disliked.

I only rent his fights because I hope someone will upset him and I couldnt miss that moment for anything. I used to be a fan of him until he got rich and annoying. Hopefully hatton wins! As I will rent this fight also.

Baldomir-PBF did close to the same numbers as PBF-Gatti, I know damn well Baldomir doesn't have a big fan base.
