Default mayweather v. hatton = whitaker v. chavez

I think this fight will be alot like sweet pea vs. chavez except there will be more energy coming from Hatton than Chavez was able to produce.

I agree that sweet pea was robbed, but seeing that PBF has more pop on his punches I don't think he will get robbed.

PBF has gotten a rep as a potshotter as of late, but I think that is only because he is the type of fighter who will only fight as much as he has to in order to win a fight. Hatton will force him to fight more than DLH did, but PBF will still be able to overcome. It'll look alot like Chavez/Whitaker, but PBF won't get robbed. UD12

Worst thread in a while.. you are not only comparing Hatton to Chavez but also saying that he has better stamina than him.

I am not comparing Hatton to Chavez P4P I am only comparing the style matchups b/n the 2 fights. Never said Hatton has better stamina than Chavez, only that Hatton will produce more energy vs. PBF than Chavez did against Pernell. If you want respond to my posts then be intelligent and don't say it's a bad thread just cuz you can't understand it

Not a bad comparison - the come forward pressure fighter against the slick, defensive/counter punching master. Of course it goes deeper than this and their are real differences, but on paper, it's not a bad comparison.

Alright, what do you mean by "produce more energy"? Pressure him more?

that and be able to sustain it throughout the fight. Chavez was clearly getting winded toward the end, but Hatton should be able to sustain pressure throughout the fight against PBF, without getting tired like that

Well, first of all, Hatton isn't half the technical pressure fighter Chavez was, especially against a fighter as slick as PBF. His style of pressure works well against fighters who are there to be hit or have average-above average defense, not sensational defense like Floyd. Hattons power (especially at 147) is small and not comparable to Chavez's. Hatton also has worse defense and movement than Chavez, so he will be hit more and he will be hit by much harder shots than what Whitaker was able to throw. His chin is also much worse than Chavez's. Chavez was getting winded toward the end, but Hatton will be even more frustrated/tired and will get knocked out toward the end.

Whitaker vs. Chavez? I really don't think it will. I see why you think that, but this one is different.

Whitaker had evolved into Benton's fighternat this point in his career, and was circling his opponent's while staying in harm's way . That way he was always in a place to put his hands on his opponents. Mayweather's approach is not quite as calculated at this point.

Hatton does not respect his opponent's space as much as Chavez. The reason Hatton gets accused of holding and hitting is because of how close he wants to be to his opponent. Most keep a little more distance. Hatton is more like, "**** you. I'm on you." I think holding is more a by-product of his positioning rather than an illegal tactic.

Hatton' crouding style is what makes this an intriguing match-up. If Hatton came after Floyd calmly, he would surely get picked apart. The fact that he rushes most opponents makes it seem that Mayweather is going to have to fight going backward in this one.

I'm too tired to finish this post now.
