Dude, he wanted Hopkins, couldn't get him until much later in his career when he was actually worth Hopkins' time. Why do people keep forgetting this? Even Hopkins doesn't go against the fact that he backed out of the fight in 2001 in interviews.

And most of the guys in Calzaghe's resume, apart from the very crap ones, were all Ring contenders.

Give respect where it's due.

Hopkins during his fights with Taylor ALWAYS complained he couldn't make weight anymore and still made those fights close. And when he climbed to 175, he dominated the top man in the division.

Then Calzaghe fights BHop for the first time in a weight division he hasn't fought in for years and he gets slagged for for his hard fought win?

I'm not saying Calzaghe is a legend.

I'm saying THIS win proves that the Hopkins Calzaghe fought and won against is FAR from the crap people degrade Hopkins as.

Because if you keep slagging Calzaghe now, that makes the current generation of boxers after Calzaghe look like complete dogcrap because Hopkins can beat them this Saturday and the next Saturday.

Diaconu is faded (32 years old), especially with his style. And he's been inactive. AND he still hurt Dawson tonight. Honestly, Dawson has to improve or someone is likely to really hurt him in the future.

Besides, if you guys keep slagging on Calzaghe, that means that Hopkins even getting a draw with him counts as nothing.

Hopkins proves he's awesome. But if you're going to slag on the guy who was considered top 2-3 p4p when Hopkins fought him, then you're also not giving Hopkins the credit for going life and death with Calzaghe.

You always got to start something. Not getting a lot of fan-fare on this one, but then again who knows what you want. Not bad, trolling.

And as another poster said, does that apply to all the other opponents Hopkins lost to, and at a much younger age than Calslappy?
It's a message board; what do you want?

Plus, I believe this. It's not like I'm putting out the Theory Of Relativity here. This is a corollary to what happened tonight, same as it is in many other, similar situations.

hopkins is a natural fighter at 160, joe at 168 but hopkins gets flak for beating smaller men in dlh and tito. can't have it both ways.

Hey, if people want to elevate Taylor, be my guest. Just make sure you forget the Pavlik fights, the Froch fight and the Abraham fight.

And, when Taylor gets to 46-0, let me know.

Hopkins wasn't natural at 160 later in his career. The man is bigger than Calzaghe FFS.

This is the truth.
