This list was not easy to make... But you could definitely make a case that Jackson should replace either Tyson or Marciano IMO...

Maybe I'm not understanding something, but Joe Louis has quite a few decision wins to be #1 GOAT puncher?

Shavers had a far higher KO%, and its not like the level of competition was that different.

Louis has a ATG status behind him which I think gives him an edge when it comes to people doing lists like this.

I give Louis a clear advantage in competetion.. He fought some must more durable contenders and his KO streak from 1938-1940 was just brutal.. He completely annihilated those guys (even through he took some shots himself)

Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Young, Jimmy Ellis, Randall Cobb, Ken Norton, Larry Holmes, Ron Lyle, Muhammad Ali, Joe Bugner. Plus, look at his KO1 streaks.

Louis did have a bum of the month club.

Just sayin...

I think one of the biggest misconceptions is the difference between the best 'puncher' and the hardest 'hitter'. Joe Louis was certainly not, IMO the hardest hitter. Not by a long way. But in terms of his punching ability, including, the speed, precision, timing of his blows, and his ability to throw them in combination, one after the other, and still with excellent power makes him one of the best 'punchers' ever. He is a better puncher in this regard than almost anyone. Even though a guy like Shavers, or Foreman hit with more force.

.. But i may start to think that Marciano doesnt deserve a spot on this list, he hit hard as hell, but he wasnt really that accurate or efficient

I think it's all relative, and you have to weigh it all up. I mean Foreman could be very wild, but the force he transmitted to his opponent was so tremendous that his power alone makes up for his sometimes inaccurate winging of shots. Marciano I think can be included somewhere for his lb4lb force generation. He was only a little guy of 185-190lbs yet he hit like he was at least 210. Yes, he could be inaccurate but his lb4lb power to weight generation, his relentless punching to anything he could hit, like forearms for example, and his ability, if he did connect, to knock someone out with one Suzie Q to he chin, means, for his size, I would put him somewhere on the list, even if lower down.
