Default Is Marquez's chances being underestimated?

OK I understand some of the reasons JMM's written off:

A. Pac is nearer his prime
B. He is bigger and much fresher and less drained at WW
C. Pac is supposedly technically much better (I don't completely buy this)
D. JMM is now 37 and getting hit a bit more

But what about:

1. JMM for many won the last fight
2. Both may have slowed, this will hurt the less technically skilled fighter
3. Pac may take JMM for granted
4. JMM still has the style advantage
5. JMM wants to beat Pac BAD

Despite being a JMM fan I favour Pacquaio but I think JMM may shock a few people

I think so, both ortiz and marquez chances are bigger than people here think, everyone seems to expect 2ko's to happen easily.
I think marquez will do a lot better if he caries the weight better this time vs a pac that will be similair to him in size on fighnight and who has a style that favours him.
Marquez is tough and smart and has nothing too loose, while I suspect pac slowing down, so who knows? I dont think he will win though, pac ud 116-112

personally, i am giving jmm a much bigger chance to beat pacquiao than ortiz beating floyd. jmm has the styles and the experience to trouble pacquiao. he knows how to fight pacquiao and would bring this know how unto the fight.

Underestimated slightly...possibly.

Pacquiao has slowed down slightly since the last time they fought, but he is hitting much harder IMO. So if Marquez can time Pacquiao from the opening bell, he could maybe have some success. But on the other hand, Marquez is easier to hit since the last time they fought. If Diaz and Katsidis can tag Marquez, Pacquiao can easily tag Marquez. It's almost certain that Marquez will be dropped in this fight, whether he gets back up this time will be the question.

Marquez should not pack the weight and muscle on in this fight, and try to become the power puncher like he did against Mayweather. He should come in at a natural weight for his size, and keep his speed and reflexes sharp. He should also not prepare for the same Pacquiao he fought a couple years ago. It will be interesting to see who will be the clear counter puncher in this match-up now.

also if marquez makes pac look bad at welter look for the odds on pac vs floyd to drop big time, especially if he looks good vs ortiz.

Marquez is an older version of the lightweight that Mayweather took to school at welterweight.

He's got no chance.

Yes, I think he's being underestimated.

Due to styles and how well JMM knows Pac, I think it'll be competitive, but Pacquiao will win in a more convincing manner this time round.

No, Marquez lost when he fought Pac almost 4 years ago. Since that time, he's gotten older and slower. He will be even slower in this fight as he moves up two weight classes to fight a Pacquiao who now has legit WW power and has maintained his speed. This is a better fight than the Mosley fight, but I don't see how Marquez can win this fight.

Pac technically superior to JMM?? No way.

Pac will win this fight simply because he carries the weight much better than JMM, JMM shouldnt be anywhere above 135.

Styles make fights and Marquez is the only fighter to give Pac fits. Its a shame if Marquez was able to gain weight well, making him stronger and punch harder without losing too much speed, Pac would be in some trouble.

Lets not forget the Margarito fight where Pac was tagged a fair few times. Margo is slower and less technically gifted figher than Marquez.

I still have Pac winning though as he's a beast at WW.

I think JMM will always give Pac problems. He may not do as well as he did before with the weight and age becoming a factor. I still remember thinking in the rematch, that Pac had become a much better fighter since their last fight. JMM was coming off a very close unimpressive points win last time out.. JMM is always going to look better against a guy who is coming at him as opposed to a guy on the backfoot. He's gonna get a chance to showcase that offensive arsenal everyone talks about.
