Default Best, Boxing or MMA

I want to fit, and gain some fighting skills and im woundering whats better MMA of Boxing?

I've bee to MMA training today, and it was quite tough because we were working on muscle endurance

I dont want to be pro Boxer or pro MMA fighter just want to be fitter and have some fighting skills that I may need in life, who knows what's round the corner.

So what do you guys recommend, join an MMA club and gain different skills like punching wrestling kicking, or boxing and learn to box properly. What is tougher and gets you fitter?

I know boxers gonna say go boxing and MMA the opposite, but from the fair point of view?

Thanks for advice in advance

Boxing is probably the best martial art you can learn for a bar fight because it's damned difficult to kick someone in the blink of an eye, generally how long you have to react when things kick off in a pub, and grappling someone doesn't work when your opponents' friends are around to kick your head off while you're looking for a chokehold. If you have good hands, however, you can react quickly and do some damage.

If you're looking to get into sick shape, however, do MMA. Grappling is extremely taxing and there's no way to do it regularly without becoming a cardio monster.

i don't train in either one, just a loyal fan of both.

but if i were to guess, MMA would be ideal because of ALL AROUND fitness, and in a real life fight, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN and MMA prepares you for things, such as someone on top of you in a street fight. Boxing does not teach how to get up or how to fight from there for example.

hope this helps.

Your Engrish is making this difficult but yes, MMA will get you much fitter than boxing because grappling is very, very cardio-intensive. And it will make you far more dangerous than anyone you meet in a bar that's untrained because you'll know how to punch, kick, and grapple. If you trade hands with a trained boxer, you'll probably get beat up but how often do you run into pro boxers in bars?

I'd say do Muay Thai and/or boxing if you want to be able to defend yourself in a street situation but do MMA if you want self-defense and a really intense fitness program. Both, however, will make you a competent fighter and get you into much better shape than the average joe.

I've train both and definitely MMA is WAY more demanding. But after a year or two it gets a bit repetitive, cuz there's not a lot of technique (at least where I trained), in the long run boxing keeps you wanting to learn more and is more refreshing.
If you wanna be fit go straight to train MMA, but if you wanna get a neverending hobbie go to train box

You trained at a shit gym, then, because BJJ, wrestling, judo, and Muay Thai have as many or more technical nuances than the sweet science.

Yeah I guess, MMA wasn't that famous here in Tj back in 2003, the Main Trainer studied at Shamrock's Lion Den, but it seemed to me that he only had an edge at submission. Once I learned that I didn't felt like there was much Muay Thai/Jiu jitsu knowledge. Perhaps almost 10 years later things have changed a bit.

Boxing of course !

if I wanted to watch two dudes rolling around trying to wrap thier legs round each others back i'd go and rent brokeback mountain.

Only joking , they both incorporate the very best of the warrior spirit and whatever you choose even if you never fight in the ring or octagon but just involved in sparring in the gym with more experienced fighters you'll more than hold your own in any bar fight or on the street .

I can understand women watching mma and my gf does but grown men watching it is just lol.
I came up with the term Ultimate Floor Cuddling and it spread like wildfire.
