The myth of Corrie Sanders

Recently Ive been reading a lot about the Corrie Sanders that fought the Klitschkos.

As time has passed,he seems to have gained a near mythical status.

"Incredible speed" and "Brutal power" tend to be words that get thrown around a lot.

The fact is,the only decent fighter he ever beat was Wladimir. He had a record more padded than the standard king sized mattress.

Why do people seek to re-write history?

He was basically a journey man,who went all out to beat Wlad, landed some big shots and got his Buster Douglas victory.

His biggest win prior to Wlad was a KO win over Alfred Cole!

Here is a man who fought throughout the 90s, and managed to not fight ANY of the big fighters of that era,except Rahman who TKO's him.

So please less with the mytholigising of Corrie Sanders.

He was a game,brave B- level fighter,who had his big day in the sun.

I think he prefered golf. I'm sure if he had been dedicted to boxing, he'd had much more success

Sanders is nothing special but he was a little underrated, he really did fuck up wlad bad though, I recently watched that fight before wlad vs haye, imagine how humiliating it is for wladimir tto see that fight nowadays. Luckily for him vitali took care of business and saved the family honour at that point.

No, its not a myth- he had awesome offensive skills. You can go to youtube and check out the fast hands.

The problem with Corrie is that he was always a fat unmotivated fuck who basically did not give a shit about the sport that was his bread and butter. His actual passion is golf, and I think he was a rubgy player.

Some claim he had a good chin- I sure don't see it.

But man, check out those fast hands.

Corrie had a lot of raw physical talent. Fast hands, great left handed power, and a sturdy chin (the Vitali fight proved that) .....the Klitschko fights also proved he was prety fearless in the ring. Like someone already said, too bad he never took his career seriously otherwise he may have accumulated a much better career than he did.

He has wins over Czyz, De Leon and Bert Cooper as well as his victory of Wlad makes it a good B level resume.

I was going to include them but if the TS mentioned only Rahman as Sanders only decent opponent then I doubt he would have heard of those and thus they would be 'bums'

He was the most avoided guy out there for a long time. The Klitschko camp should've done the same thing as other management and fought a face first guy instead.

But Sanders had tools nobody likes putting their guy in with for the amount of $$$ they get paid, so they select the path of least resistance for their guys. And Corrie Sanders was never a guy on the least resistance column.

He was a known commodity as an amateur and had those Botha wins and he sure starched Duplooy when his weight was real low. And minimal experience to get that kind of result. Too bad there isn't a pedigree like that on the scene now.
