You don't need much money for amateur boxing, normally if you are a member of a gym that has competitive amateur fights they will train you for fights, what you will need money for is your personal equipments, head gear foul protectors, mouth guards, shoes, clothing which usually consists of team colored trunks and tank top, and also a quick medical etc

Is there a PAL near you? The fees are usually very low, (sometimes as low as 50-100 dollars for a year) The trainers are there to help everyone. If you show more interest and dedicate yourself, they will show more interest in you.

You'd be much bettered served with a PAL or Boys and Girls Club program where you pay 25 a month, if that, and the trainers are there and help everybody as much as they an and provide a lot of training equipment. And if you're in Brooklyn and can join Gleasons, then there are other gyms in the area too that will be much cheaper and better really, like a Boys and Girls Club or PAL.

boxing is a sport for the poor, always has been.

you should find a cheap, but good gym somewhere around your place.

if you re in brooklyn, then dont go to gleasons. that place is expensive and is designed for managers and such. its more a fitness boxing gym than anything else.

Lots of poor Mexicans learned how to box. If you want it bad enough you will figure out how.

I go to a PAL and pay nothing there... They provide all of the equipment and everything, even including shoes if you don't have your own. You could tell your situation to the trainers you have now and see if they recommend any places near you.

boxinggyms.com

If you really want to find a place, you'll find a way to do it. Call around, look in the phone book, research on the internet, ask the guys down at Gleasons.

People here aren't going to have the answers for you.
