Damn, Greeny got smoked by the Magic Man, I didn't watch the fight but saw the Fox highlights this morning, Tarver was way too big, strong and slick for him.
Green's got a good chin but those lefts that dropped him in the first and second rounds were sweet and just show the difference between a true CWs power and someone coming up from LHW to CW's power. Lefty's right, Green has no plan B, if he can't overpower his opponent early and gain confidence from it he has nothing to fall back on. A shame though, as I was hoping he'd look good in beating Tarver and then call out Huck or Cunningham - I thought his progressive weight gain would work and he would redeem himself for his last few opponents by finally taking on a young and hungry CW but obviously not. Time to hang 'em up Danny boy

Green went to his right, to his left, to his right again, and then got stuck right in front of that Tarver left hand.
Green did manage to hurt Tarver twice - Tarver said so immediately after the fight - but Tarver too slick, too good. Full credit to Tarver. He lost 25 lbs, came to fight and delivered a stunning performance for a 42 year old. |

Green's performance was disgraceful, he came into the fight out of shape and some 20lbs heavier than when he fought Roy Jones Jr just 2 years ago. Tarver was in far better shape and easily beat a fat Danny Green who looked as though he had just eaten Ricky Hatton! If you can't get in shape for a title fight Danny then get out now and open a cake shop!

Exactly , Danny Green got shown up as the 1 dimensional fighter that he is , he is a brawler who is too rigid in the ring and struggles to have a plan b or c to fall back on . Congratulations to him though for making the most out of his limited repetoire and fighting for world titles . What now are the optiions for Danny Green ? a) Retire or b) Drop down to LHW and naaaaaaaaahhhhhhh just retire Thanks for the memories Dan ![]()

Green just walked into Tarver's left constantly.
Didnt change at all as the fight goes on. Top level fighters know how to adjust & adapt to a situation. There was only Plan A from Green...nothing more |

Tarver has offerd him a rematch, so if he wants to correct things go ahead, my bet is he tucks his tail between his legs and hides under Ninas skirt haha

Tarver wants a rematch because lets face it, he cant even earn 50 grand these days in the US & he knows he can make a cool near million again & have a relatively easy night.

Hyder tried to implement subtle changes Kegsy. But Tarver was just too good, and had Green's number from early on. Green didn't appear to be able to cope with Tarver's southpaw stance. But Tarver was just plain too slick anyway. Could tell by the intentional simplicity of Hyder's instructions between rounds, particularly later in the piece, that they were stuffed. The wise call would seem to be for Green to hand 'em up and go enjoy the money. |

I thought Hyder was right on the money with his advice...but Danny didn't go through with it consistently..when a fighter is lost and fighting on instinct, they tend to go back to bad habits.
Angelo was pretty straightforward..move the you're left to take out Tarver's left...don't go back on the ropes and try that counter punching shit with your hands down. Danny did the opposite...either moved to his right or straight back...kept going to the ropes. |
