Default '83 Duran vs '87 SRL at middleweight

Who wins the Duran or the Leonard that fought Hagler?

Leonard. He had still retained a lot of his speed when he met Hagler while Duran had lost a large portion of his. He was short of stamina, but I don't think this Duran would apply anything like that pressure he did in Montreal. Duran at this stage was at his best as a counter puncher, and Ray was too slick and too smart to be trapped very often IMO.

Same result as 1989, but a slightly better fight...... Leonard still gets the nod after 12 or 15 rds.......

duran deserves a...wait never mind. to play devil's advocate, if duran could take 6 or 7 rounds off a peak hagler in 83, then i think he stands a chance against a leonard that struggled mightily with a past prime older, slower hagler.

yes, styles make fights and i agree with bokaj that duran was a counterpuncher by this point but he was a BRILLIANT counterpuncher in 83 and a master ring general who forced a beast in hagler to fight his fight for 12 rounds. no reason he wouldn't take quite a few rounds off of leonard as well

Duran wins an undeserving decision..thanks to Mr King.

If Roberto can get that close on the cards to Hagler...which in reality we all know was rubbish..than the Carl Lewis version of Leonard probably won't bag a points verdict.

Duran was 38 in 1989, but not shot... He could still fight.... Christ, he and Barkley fought the fight of the year for 1989..... Styles make fights..... Duran, like Hagler and Leonard, all like an opponent to come after them..... Leonard's rubber match with Duran sucked long dick cuz Leonard wanted to merely box from long range and force Duran to chase after him.... Duran knew the tactic and half-heartedly obliged... Still, Leonard won 9 of the 12 tactical rds of boxing in 1989.... As long as Leonard can stick and move, he'd always be fast / quicker than Duran and would out-score Duran on the cards.... Once Duran moved up to 154 and 160 his speed was average at best; nothing impressive.... Yet he could still fight if paired with a willing opponent...

Once Leonard fought his fight after not fighting it in the first fight, he would always beat Duran. Unless you start matching up the 1991 Ray vs. the 1983 Duran.

If Roberto was outclassed by Wilfred Benitez a year before, I figure the 1987 Leonard who was experience would beat Duran by decision. This was not Duran's style of fight he excelled in.

'83 Duran loses on points to '87 Leonard at 155 to 160 pounds, as long as Leonard uses his stick and move style as he did for Hagler...... Duran seasoned and game, yet a shade too slow for Leonard........

Leonard by boring UD. Duran was too inconsistent post-Montreal, esp. if this is at MW. Duran's far too chunky at 160.
