He isn't some diamond-in-the-rough unsung savior of 140lbs or anything, but the betting lines are probably an indication of people largely going by their opinion on Coleman (who has been seen more). He looks good against certain carefully selected styles, but it will be interesting to see how he does against another skilled speedster. The two best boxers he's met were De La Rosa (who beat him, and later lost to Allen Conyers) and a most-of-the-way shot Arnaoutis (Coleman got a gift decision).
Of course, there's nothing on Paris' resume except a most-of-the-way shot Augustus to suggest he's even in the same class...but Coleman has picked up a fair share of skeptics and hasn't shown much to be impressed by when matched against live bodies. It's really a coin toss, but people seem to be smacking their lips at that 2/1 payout. |

ARRRGGGHHH.
Would have been all in on Paris aswell (been big on the kid for a while), especially after the De La Rosa and Arnaoutis fights like you mentioned. Coleman was always gonna struggle with his style. Good win for Vernon, hopefully he can build himself up to fulfill the early hype. Hope he works his way to a title shot at least, the lad really deserves it after what he's been through. |
