Bernard Hopkin's could go on to be one of the best trainers of all time. He should consider a career as a trainer.

Hopkins is going to be a great trainer. Vast knowledge and a strong belief and mentality.

B-Hop has already said he doesn't mindteaching peeps a little bit, but that Brother Naazim has already advised him his standards are toohoghso he won't go into training once he's retired.

Hopefully he changes his mind! He's one of the few 'oldschool' operators left, and has forgotten more about pugilism than most men know

Ironic they talk about the lead leg. Boxers and MMA guys I've talked to... it always comes back to the lead leg and stance.

In boxing you can generate more power on your shots by using your legs and postion. We always talk shit about MMA fighters throwing "arm punches" because they don't put their body into punches.

They generally say the reason they can't throw proper punches is because of the lead leg.

In MMA, having your leg out there like Bernard was showing him leaves it open for a possible take down. Their stance is different because of they have to protect that and that changes they way they throw punches.

Seems like it makes sense.

Still, seems like there are opportunities where they could use a proper boxing stance and land some big shots against a guy who isn't likely to shoot the leg for the take down.
Fedor uses a stance where he leaves his lead leg out. You have to not put a lot of weight on that leg and you have to know your distance extremely well to stop take downs.

The philosophy is the same but the way a boxer or an MMA fighter implements it will be different.

Of course Bhop was giving him knowledge from the sweet sciecne point of view but he understands Rashad is in a different game.....so Rashad can take away the foundation of what Nard was talking about and apply it to his own proffession.

Taking away real-estate, dictating the pace, distance....making moves to get your opponent in the position you want...all are philosophies that can be applied to boxing or MMA. The way you apply them will differ but the outcome should be the same.

Great video a good watch. I'm gonna try that tennis ball idea sounds like i good idea when hitting the heavybag or shadow boxing to get used to keeping your chin tucked.
