Amateur boxing will remain to service the grassroots of boxing. As mentioned above the Olympics will be opened to Pro boxers aligned to AIBA. Hopefully other major tournaments that are traditionally competed by amateurs eg World Champs are kept just for the Amateurs.
Can't see much benefit spending more than a minimum amount of time in the amateurs. The rules are the same. Probably no headguard. Why would you fight for free when you can get paid to do almost exactly the same thing?

sarcasm aside. olympic gold is a temptation in itself, and the bragging rights are worth millions. i think you may find that those that can get out of contracts, or are not in contracts, those that are looking to get E.X.P.O.S.U.R.E, get into rankings, struggling in annonymity, (like poor old demoron) would have a crack.

the idea has merit. i think it 'could' grow into a major boxing event, for heavyweights at least. if it ever happens.

Agree with you Hands.

The pro basketballers have already made a mockery of the Olympics. Remember the US Dreamteam staying in a 5 star hotel while the rest of the teams lived in the Olympic village with the rest of the athletes?

Imagine what pro boxers are going to get up to.
