Ive spoke to Mike Delisa before, trying to get info on some of Gomez' fights and he seemed to think the consensus at the time was Gomez had gone completely off the rails after winning the title.
I cant say myself if that looks true as i haven't seen enough of him and delisa has reason to be a bit biased. He did have to rematch a non-title loss(albeit in mexico) and looked like shit against Marcel, but that may have just been down to inherent flaws that weren't a noticeable against a well worn saijo(who was going to lose his title soon anyway most likely, he just got drawn into wars too often).ie dealing with a fighter with a speed advantage and more unpredictable rhythm. |

Pedroza's uppercut to the balls was a thing of beauty. could throw it equally well with both hands, from any distance, and complemented it with an educated pair of elbows, and a decent shoulder ram headbutt combo.
But in all seriousness we never saw Eusebio tackle an all time great and win like Marcel did. I think that makes all the difference in who I would pick. Marcel won't be bothered by Perdoza's height, and Pedroza doesn't hit hard enough to get him into full defense mode like Duran did. Marcel in a close, dirty but clear decision. |

These two are too close to call...
Both with excellent right hand leads. Two of the best ever. Marcel a tad faster. Brilliant lateral movement and head feints. Pedroza physically stronger but not the better chin, although I don't think chin would count in this fight, as both were stiff but not concussive punchers. And it seems Marcel had more adaptabilty vs Pedroza's steadiness over the distance. Too close... if they fought five times, I think Marcel edges Pedroza like 3-2. |

Pedroza being blasted out by Alfonzo Zamora. What a beauty of a KO. Couldn't have happened to a nicer fella. Ouch
