Ortiz is stuck between a rock and a hard place
Victor Ortiz is coming off his best performance to date with his unanimous decision over former undefeated WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto. In a back and forth entertaining fight, Victor pulled himself off the canvas to overwhelm Berto with his speed, power, and constant pressure. He showed the courage so many of his critics said he did not have after quitting in one of his previous fights. Dare we say his performance was beastly? Up next for Victor is Floyd Mayweather Jr., pound 4 pound the best boxer of his era. He is a defensive specialist with superb counterpunching ability. The effort most fighters use trying to land a punch on him usually wears them down while he sits in the pocket relaxed waiting for that window of opportunity to open so he can throw lead right hands and counter check left hooks. With lightning hand speed and extremely long arms for his height, he has no problem with keeping an opponent at bay with his jab when he decides to use it. He’s one of the hardest boxers to defeat because his boxing IQ is off the charts and his conditioning is second to none. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Good article. So you are probably sitting their asking yourself, does Ortiz really have a chance? The answer is yes, he does have a chance. Actually he has two chances.
An old quote I remember Don King using is the best way to explain it. “He has two chances, slim and none, and slim just left town” LMAO!! |

I think Ortiz will attempt to force exchanges but fail since Floyd takes the fight to him. This fight looks similar to the Mosley fight without all the drama of the 2nd round.

ortiz needs to make this a phone booth fight and beat floyd to the body, hit him anywhere he can arms, hips, chest, shoulders.but really it will come down to this ,how much is ortiz willing to take to get his punchs off.can he take two of floyds to land one of his,i think he can.floyd dont like to get hit and his jaw is suspect to me.its gotta be a rough fight, rough and ugly but if ortiz trys to out box mayweather than he will get schooled bad.hope he doesnt try that cause of his pride ,i have seen other fighters get caught up in that and it dont work out.

I think it will look exactly like Mosley Floyd rounds 1-2, except it will probably go all the way to the 10th where Floyd will do his usual.
Ortiz will NOT gas out. He may quit though depending on how many punches and how hard Floyd punches. |

you have a lot of confidence on a 34-year-old fighter coming off two compromised wins in over three years that relies heavily on speed and reflexes. this fight is not about victor ortiz but about what pbf has left against a live fighter, something that he did not have to encounter against jmm and smm. victor ortiz is much, much liver than the aforementioned two. |
