I said almost the exact same thing on your facebook link Rums. We Golotaholic lifers think a lot alike on this subject.

Golota may have never officially won the belt but he did indeed provide us with one of the most exciting fights in boxing history, can't take that away from him.

Golota's 90s ring walks were quite dramatic feeling. Particularly the Golota-Bowe and Golota-Lewis bouts. This was back when Golota looked unstoppable and was at his peak in popularity, his fans really thought he was the second coming of Christ.

I was actually watching this one and I was absolutely shocked that Golota looked a hell of a lot better in round 1 of the Tyson fight then my memory served me. Haven't watched round 2 yet, but Golota was actually doing pretty damn good in round 1 until Tyson caught him with just over 10 seconds left.

Considering Andrew had lost his jab he actually did do well. I always believed had he not walked off the ring he'd have won that fight.

He was boxing Tyson pretty well until he got cut by what Golota thought was an intentional headbutt. Then you could tell his confidence level immediately went straight to hell and then he got caught with that huge killer over hand right that put him on his ass.

Too bad we couldnt have seen Golota-Tyson before his car accident. He was obviously a shot fighter compared to pre car accident. Most of his punches vs Tyson looked so weak, he was slapping a lot. Meanwhile every punch Tyson threw had serious mean intentions.

I did, too! He weathered the storm! Tyson was always dangerous for 2 rounds at that point, but once you got beyond that he became easier to outbox and keep at range. Sure, he'd have spurts here and there, but he fatigued quickly and often found himself at the end of a good jab throwing one big punch at a time.

Golota survived the most difficult part of the contest, but unfortunately he did not want it and was not there mentally.
