Puncher: Carlos Zarate
Boxer: Alexis Arguello

They are closer in terms of boxing skills/abillity/talant, than they are in terms of power.

Go **** yourself.
Naplloes is a predictable robotic boxer. Something Arguello and Zarate are not.

If there's a significant gap between the two in regards to power,it's most certainly in Arguello's favour. He carried that power up five divisions and could change a fight with a single punch.Zarate, despite his knockout ratio, was never that level of a puncher.

Arguello was the better boxer and better puncher. Zarate didn't beat enough elite boxers for me. He had a lot of ko's, but lost to maybe every elite fighter he faced.

I think you might have that backwards. Arguello is one of the primary guys I think of when it comes to elite body punching.

Both guys do things better than the other (Zarate had better footwork, more compact punching, etc.), but Arguello was the better fighter overall when it came to the intangibles and things like durability/mental fortitude.

People will disagree, but I'm with you on this. Naplloes was indeed robotic and predictable. That's why he didn't have much of a career in the sport and doesn't do well in head-to-head mythical matchups. Napoles, on the other hand, was anything but robotic and predictable, hence the all-time great career and the high standing when compared to other great lightweights, junior welterweights, and welterweights.

Zarate in my opinion...

Zarate was better at controlling the distance and pace.......
but this is very close !

Edit- not so sure anymore......I was thinking about Arguello vs Watt.....awesome job by Arguello with a highly disciplined long-range and skillful fight.....

I felt the need to bump up this thread. Latinos r my favorite fighters. Mexicans being my favorite. I came across this thresd and couldn't believe most of what I'm reading here. Now I have many Arguello fights & some Zarate fights and the margine of talent isn't even close! Zarate might b a little lighter on his feet but Arguello is better in every catagorie. If they fought in there primes P4P Arguello would have kicked the shit out of Zarate.

Shozo Saijo is more comparable to Arguello.
