Robert Lloyd Taylor entered not as an injury reserve during the event itself, but before the draw was even announced as a replacement for J.J. Bird. (thus invalidating the whole list on which everyone originally bet).

The only person who stands to possibly be upset about this (unorthodox, who alone bet $75 on the "Any Reserve" option) hasn't much room to gripe as he also had a huge punt on Jeff Thomas...about as much as his winnings would have been!

Actually, I just crunched the numbers and unorthodox actually profited from the abandonment.

The payout on $75 at 20/1 would have been $1500.

The returned $75 along with his $1428 stake on Thomas gives him back his original $1503 - a pittance more than he would have actually won!
