I don't think RJJ has the style to outbox Tommy Hearns. Tommy is almost as quick and is a far superior technician. RJJ can certainly KO Hearns but Tommy is quick enough to catch him as he comes into range, so it would be a minefield strategy for RJJ. I could make a case for RJJ by KO/TKO, Tommy by UD or KO/TKO.

Hearns far superior technician is nonsence, to say it mildly.

I don't agree. Hearns was technically better but RJJ was imo faster and more onorthodox

I think Jones would face more danger style wise vs Hearns than against Hagler and Monzon. Jones for once would be facing someone with similar handspeed. Hearns at his best was never outboxed. He has the jab, reach, speed and power to give Roy the chin check we all would have liked to have seen at 160. Can he survive it? I like Hearns by KO, i think he gets to Jones first.

This is a tough one. I don't believe Hearns has ever been outboxed. The great SRL couldn't do it. Futhermore, Hearns was a murderous puncher. Hearns's losses generally came when his opponents engaged in a shoot out with him. If RJJ is willing to do that then he can win. I think Hearns outboxes RJJ in the first bout but, gets KO'd in the rematch after RJJ figures him out and goes for broke.

Agreed on the styles thing, though i think in this fight, Jones by TKO is the more likely outcome.

For one because he never showed chin problems at 160-168, including 24 rounds against fine technicians and much bigger men than Hearns in Toney and Hopkins. Now i do think Hearns punches harder than those two, but still...

Jones was monstrous puncher at middleweight, i think the only ones who were able to go the distance with him were Jones and Hopkins who both have iron chins and have never been stopped and were rarely down.

In other words, Roy may be able to take some of Hearns' punches whereas it's a virtual certainty that Hearns is out of the fight when Jones lands good shots. I will take my chances with Roy here.

Hearns was open to right cross if you slipped his jab (his chin was up in the air at such moments). Jones with his footwork, angles and much faster hands (their handspeed is not even close) will use this flaw rather easily.
