Default Miguel Cotto's next fight.

Most likely his mandatory defense against Yuriy Nuzhnenko in February or March.

Nuzhnenko targets Cotto!
After winning the WBA interim welterweight title on Saturday night in Cannes, France, unbeaten Yuriy Nuzhnenko (27-0, 13 K0s) has a new mission. "Now my goal is to get rid of the prefix 'interim.' Mr. Miguel Cotto, you're invited!" Nuzhnenko won the belt via unanimous decision (116-113, 116-112, 116-113) over Frederic Klose (41-6, 8 KOs). "It was a big challenge for me but not the hardest bout," commented Nuzhnenko. "I realized my plan for the fight and got my result. I promised to give an unpleasant surprise for the French fans and I made it come true. I respect Klose, he showed the character of the warrior but my skills and power brought me the victory."

Shall we start the imprinting of the the body bag for Mr. Nuzhnenko?

You can't fight Judah and Mosley and then Nuzhenko, especially if there is pressure for a bout against Mayweather.

LOOK!!!!

NEWS FLASH
Cotto camp targets Oscar!
WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto doesn't call out other fighters and steadfastly maintains that he doesn't choose his opponents and he'll fight whomever Top Rank puts him in with. However, his uncle/manager/trainer Evangelista Cotto told El Nuevo Dia that a May 3 superfight with Oscar De La Hoya is clearly the preferred alternative for the unbeaten champion from Cauguas, Puerto Rico. "Right now a fight with De la Hoya is more marketable than one with Mayweather," said Evangelista, "even though De la Hoya lost to Mayweather in his last fight and Mayweather won last night against Hatton, De La Hoya remains the most marketable....the other names that have been mentioned to fight with Miguel do not compare economically with a fight with De la Hoya."

Cotto's the type of guy to take this Nuzhnenko on as a stay busy fight. And Oscar/Margarito/Mayweather in the summer. He is old school like that.

Honestly - I don't think he'll risk it this time. They'll end up paying this guy off to make the Oscar fight.

The chances of him getting hurt or not letting his cut heal properly - at worst win in a terrible fight or lose the fight. I just don't see it happening.

Oscar doesn't want Cotto. He wants Hatton at Wembley.

WBA makes more money with their sanctioning fees, by making that bullshit interim title fight.
