You look great man. I was expecting an energy aura and sonic boom with that last pose.

You always keep your lead hand that low without your chin tucked? Seems like a long guy would have a field day with that.

Because there are so many of them in Boxing programs and probably only so many bag and coaches to go around. It is probably the easiest way for the coach to survey everyone and make corrections as needed.

Also, like most communist countries, once you are in the progrogram you are IN the program. So Boxing is what you do. All day. Shadow Boxing is probably the lowest impact Boxing specific activity one can do for a huge amount of the day. Anything else would probably shred the body.

Yes do it every day. In the gym and at home, also have a gym at work. Just practising skills, straight punches, angles, foot work, fast combos or slow combos. activating the right muscles, Scanning for weaknesses and how i would attack myself, keep disciplined pace like a dance when going hard you can learn how the body moves and make it efficient to reduce fatigue. Also practise mechanical movements ALA Klitscho.

Its the best way to train in boxing IMO. Cubans are great it it, Check out this basic video of rigondeax.

I'm offensively pretty decent, defense was always my problem. I haven't really put up many clips of me just boxing at a measured pace, but I try to do the old "in and out" style, getting out of range rather than trying to block punches with the lead hand. Sometimes I tuck my chin more than others. Its actually really hard to land on my body, but not my head.

I do like to carry the lead hand low, sometimes really low, but my offense usually keeps guys from teeing off on me. I really rely on being physically superior at the low weights instead of being technically sound, but I haven't fought competitively in a long while now, and sometimes those defensive lapses are not good ideas. My wins tended to be easy wins - they just couldn't handle my attack psychologically. My losses tended to be easy victories for the opponent - I couldn't adapt.

I'm exactly the same way lol. I'm borderline paranoid about getting hit in the body so I'll avoid it at all costs, even if it means taking some good ones to the head (I've got a decent chin though so whatevs).

Some of my sparring partners started calling me JellyBelly lol. They try specifically to get me in the body because I'm not shy about saying I hate getting hit in the body, but hey, I can still count on one hand the times i've got hit with a good bodyshot. Headshots, not so much

THERE ARE THREE BASIC TYPES OF SHADOW BOXING

The length of time for each session in the gym will depend on
what type you are trying to do.

The shadow boxing on the gym floor or even in the ring
should be at least geared to equal the length of time of
and actual boxing bout.

For the other two types of shadow boxing, the time
factor is not an issue so in does not matter how many
rounds that you go, but it should still be in 2 or 3 minute
sections.

It is a learning tool to practice moves in an efficient and effective
manner. Speed doesn't matter, it is all about the form of the
execution.

At boxing i shadow box every session to warm up.. 3-4 rounds in the ring, with at least 2-3 other boxers in there also.. I use their movement as if they were my opponent.. Near the end of the session, the main ring is normally free, so i'm jump in there, and use the mirror..

I haven't been boxing for a couple of months cos of a bad wrist .. So i shadow box in my garden, a few rounds (3 1/2 mins) with a 2kg weights (which doesn't affect my wrist), so when i tire, i'm working harder on keeping my hands up, then a few rounds without the weights..
