I love Jiu Jitsu dont get me wrong but UFC one was a farce they brought in some mediocre stand up fighters to show the prominence of Gracie Barra.
They had a boxer with one glove on and a kick boxer who made the final by beating up some rotund sumo wrestler.

Kevin Rosier was a well known super heavyweight kickboxer from that era and Patrick Smith went on to fight successfully in K1 making him a K1 level striker as Joe Rogan so often puts it and Ken Shamrock was the top shootfighter coming from Pancrase in Japan. Royce Gracie on the other hand was the only fighter in the tournament with no jiujitsu competition history and zero professional fights.
