I think McClellan brought that injury into the ring, but obviously the punishment he absorbed made it worse. Sort of the epitome of boxing — the better the sport gets, the worse it gets.

And the referee should be singled out in the Eubank/Watson tragedy as well. Literally having to pull the guy into the center of the ring probably should have tipped him off that something was wrong.

It's tough for me to watch either of these. Showtime also acted disgracefully by airing Benn/McClellan in the United States already knowing the result. They at least should have edited the ****ing commentary.

Obviously, this fight had a tragic ending and boxing has come a long way, but I've always been of the opinion that a fighter should use dirty and illegal tactics if they can get away with it. Of course, doing so runs the risk of losing points and a disqualification. Knowing when and how far to push it is the key. Bhop is a master of walking that fine tight-rope.

Maybe Tyson put it best: "Well **** it... it's a fight, whatever happens, happens."

Oh, and the american commentary was a disgrace. Ferdie Pacheco sounded like a douche when he said that GMan "quit".
Everybody thought he quit, and while it wasn't a Victor Ortiz, he still gave up simply via the fact that he was almost beaten into a comatose vegetative state... He could barely stay awake let alone fight on.. but that is BECAUSE of Benn and his sheer viscious power, McClelans brain was basically mush by the stage he took a knee, got counted out.. wobbled to his corner, then collapsed from the damage.

Ferdie and King are absolutely pointless to speak about in this. G-Man just had the brawl of a lifetime with Benn and even if he did manage to make him be counted out in the first, Benn definitely proved he was in there to prove something. He had heart and guts b'sides you can't fight a guy like Benn straight up and loading on hin standing still. Benn used every chance he had to move side to side, down load and come up with the heymakers that had Gerald's head completely shaken up inside at a certain point.

GMan had little to no skills really. Just a puncher.

to be honest I thought the fight is way overrated but yeah, a fair referee would have stopped it when McClellan knocked him through the ropes
