Default Troubles getting inside with taller guys

Hey guys I'm a lot heavier than the weight I used to fight at and I'm having to go with a lot taller guys and I feel like I'm not getting anything done. I have some videos of me sparring for examples if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly apreciated. I'm the one with the Mexican style headgear or face bar headgear depending one the video
Thanks in advance,
Mike

The main things seem to be the lack of headmovement and feints. Are those guys watching coaches?

Ya coaches and other boxers. Feints are something that need to work on, I have been trying to incorporate more head movement.

You also seem to stand static infront of them aswell, last thing you want to do when you are up against taller fights. Head movement doesn't need to be Tyson-esque, but a moving target is harder to hit than a static one and it will actually discourage fighters from letting their hands go.

Try throwing more than one jab when you're working your way in aswell.

You are not bad at all.My opinion is that you must doing more pressure, bob and weave, and working more to the body and with left hook. You must working on short explosive punches inside to the body than uppercut and hooks.Cut the ring slowly, than bob and weave, attack body and go to the head.Use your left jab to the head or body or even chest.Watch Joe Frazier,David Tua,Mike Tyson,Rocky Marciano,Henry Armstrong,Bennie Briscoe...

I was also going to suggest feints, but the guys you are in with don't seem to cover up when you throw.

How is your power? Do you think they respect it?

In the first video your head movement wasn't there. Second and third videos were much better and you can see that you are working on it.

Something we see a bit of in the last video is lateral movement. Seemed to work for you there. My coach is always saying don't come straight in/out every time. Try to get into a place where you can throw without them seeing it coming.

Also missing: BODY WORK! Why not try working inside behind the feints and jabs, pushing your face into the guys chest and unloading a series of body shots and punctuate with a left hook to the head?

OR...

Feint with the jab, zip in low with a straight right. Follow with a left hook to the body and third one to the head... then turn out and see where that leaves the other guy.

Is he still covered up? Is he facing you or where you were a few seconds ago? Can you sneak in a few more shots?

good watch. the 1st fight in the 1st video u seem to go in with head first and get picked off, he did get a few good shots back notably at 4:51! then the other 2 fights u seemed to breeze through with the high guard, and up and down head movement. a few good slips in 3rd video and good catches, but does your headmovement go when you feel tired? it has done for me before. weight and height as well?

I only watched a few minutes of the first one. I'm no expert but I am a fighter and I am 6ft 6.

I dont like when someone keeps constant pressure on me as it forces me to work at their pace and not mine and I am constantly on the back foot. You need to bob and weave while coming in though. Also you quite often stand in his range and dont throw(neither does he which is silly)

stay out his range and when you are in range close the distance force him to fight at your space and keep throwing. body and head

I often spar taller fighters and one thing that works for me is throwing the jab off an angle. So if you're orthodox instead of stepping striaght into a jab move slightly to the left as you move in and almost throw it round the giuard.

TOO MUCH MOVING FORWARD IN A STRAIGHT LINE will make you a target.
Be more creative, the other guy has many openings, but tough to take advantage
when you are the walk in target.

As a decently tall guy watching your vids it seems like you don't have too much trouble getting in.

You seem to have issues not staying in long enough, knowing when to get out (when you are tired), and not staying far enough away while you are resting. Also you seem to head hunt a bit. Stamina too, but what Boxer doesn't wish he had more?

I felt you made a great account of yourself in that first vid and just when it seemed you had him? You let off of the gas. You landed some great counters and lead hooks, but I wish you had either finished or started to the body a bit more. He seemed to relax on using his height to protect his head because you weren't going to his body.

Much better than I thought.
