Default Puerto Rican fighters...

Wilfred Benitez, Wilfredo Gomez, Macho Camacho, Felix Trinidad, Carlos Quintana, Miguel Angel Cotto, Esteban de Jesus......these guys always get recognized as great PR fighters........Kermit Cintron on the other hand, I think he was even born on the island, and despite his pretty great record, I rarely, if ever see or hear of any Ricans claiming this guy...what's with that? Any ideas?

Grew up in USA and speaks better English than Spanish. Same with De La Hoya, Brandon Rios, Victor Ortiz.

Who is the greatest PR-American of all time?

If you can claim guys like Ortiz, Gomez, Benitez, and Trinidad as your own, you're probably not going to go around bragging about Kermit Cintron. Just Saiyan.

The fact that he was raised in the US and and is primarily an English speaker are probably the main reasons he's not recognized in PR. That, and his career has been defined by controversial chickenshit moments.

He's also never really accomplished all that much in the sport so it's not like he's earned a great deal of popularity or respect.

Not only that, but the way he quit and cried after the Margo fight was pretty bad.

I can understand the emotions but, come on man. Despite all that I always had high hopes for Cintron but he's too mentaly weak. Kinda like Judah.

I do remember the phantom headbutt/20 count knockdown, but after that, I don't really remember much of that fight. I do remember the leaping out of the ring vs. P. Williams, and him not getting up vs. Margs.....ok I guess I didn't think this one over. Hell though, usually Ricans everywhere like to claim another, but maybe this guy no one wants to claim him. Maybe if he beats Cinnamon (if they fight), he might regain some love.

Cintron doesn't strike me as someone boxing fans from pretty much any country would want to claim as one of theirs.

I'm guessing that if Cintron was born-and-raised on the island, Ricans would be searching his family tree, trying to pass him off on someone else.
