good sparring. Hearns hit Ali with a nice right, but I am not sure it meant much. It shows how must faster Hearns was in 1981 than he was later in the 1990s.

Very cool videos, thanks for(re)posting

I think Duran is very relaxed (a very James Toney kind of relaxation) whereas Benn is very (in)tense. Duran does not bother to set up any offense, he just slips, blocks or rolls with the punches. Amazing to see a former lightweight spar with a super middle weight with so much ease

Imagine what Tommy would do in the current WW division! He'd kill these guys...PBF and Pacman included.

Benn is clearly pulling his punches (he never used to put much into sparring anyway and says he only ever used it to work on defense and rythm) - if he wanted to, he'd have knocked Duran senseless but obviously didn't want to disrespect a legend. This was from May '88.

Duran skillset was great and it really showed as he got older and was able to grind out wins against younger and bigger ooponents.

Neither was Benn. Took him years to grow up into that weight.

and imagine if Hearns didn't have to weigh-in the day of the fight like they used to have to do. He'd retire the entire division if he fought today. It'd be a massacre.
