Default how is it possible that bellew didnt carry his power from the amateur's to the pros

from the videos i'v seen of him on youtube he was knocking guys out at heavyweight during his amateur days as a heavyweight, hes been struggling to produce the same effect on professional fighters at light heavy, wondering what could be the reasoning behind it,

Deteriorating technique, weight-drain, etc.

Wrong weight class.

His power is mediocre at Light Heavy.

A move up to Cruiser would do him the world of good.

Tony can bang no doubt but he telegraphs his shots alot of the time so they do not have the same effect but he has shown in some fights that he bangs hard when he hits the button. The left hook he caught Mckenzie with was a beauty I was surprised he got up from that.

Yeah I think it's widely regarded that 175 is a step too far for him weight wise. I reckon it's affetcing his punch resistance too. He has a great chance of beating Clev imo but if he doesn't I fully expect a move to cruiser sharpish

Sorry im a bit confused were putting up knocking out JLD as monster power, how many amateur victims went on to do anything, he only earnt the shot because of his mouth (like Haye) and will spend the evening running like a little girl like he did against orvil the duck.

Gonna miss him after this fight and his highlight reel knockdowns

Must be the weight, if he moved upto Cruiserweight he would be better off.

Maybe cos he doesn't swing for the fences like he did in that video and his opponents aren't so naive to throw hands with him...

Bingo.

Not as easy to KO someone like Bob Ajisafe, who's able to give you a different look.

Weight is one reason. Hes underweight, no doubt. Look at the knockdowns v McKenzie, he went down hard, but his eyes were clear. His legs seemed to collapse under him.

Also the pro game is more about heavy punches than point scoring. So pros have more nouse of how to take the edge off of punches, deflecting and surviving.
