Yeah I no he beat Burley, but that was just outside his four year period.

I wrote an article on the Brit forum about Bivins which can be found here:

It's about halfway down the page. Have a look round the thread tho, it's got some really good stuff on it.

Bivins doesn't get the credit he deserves! And it's sickening!

I do most of my posting in the classic forum and for a second, actually forgot that this was the general forum. I am known in the classic forum by many.

a badly jet-lagged (or train-lagged, whatever have you) and out of sorts gans, it must be stated, but an extremely impressive victory nonetheless when taking into account langford's relative lack of experience.

Yes! Langford was really just beginning his career, so that is indeed impressive. To be fair to Gans, Langford was the natually bigger man, as we see later in his career, at times weighing more than 200 lbs. To be fair to Langford, Gans was often "overtrained" just like for the 42 round
Nelson battle and look what gans did in that one. He had to weigh 133 lbs. And still dealt Nelson a beating.

it probably should've been. Walcott was said to have pressed the bout and made the fight, while langford did the effective scoring and countering throughout.

Agreed.

i wasn't meaning to give you a lesson. You seemed to take offense to what i said, regardless of what it was, and i responded in kind.

No, no offense taken. I am impressed with your apparent vast knowledge of this great sport that we love. I sometimes type and futhermore sound sarcastic to people, but overall, that is usually not the case. I know that i am knowledgeable, but don't pretend to be the most knowledgeable in the world or even on this site. You mentioned the classic forum and i am proud to say that there are people there who would put both of us to shame with their knowledge. Anyway, forgive me if i sounded rude, but i rather enjoyed this healthy discussion with you. I hope we can do it again sometime. I would love to continue now, but it is time for me to go get my champion from school. Take care.
I answered between the lines, but for some reason it is kind of messed up. Ok, I think it is fixed now.

Yeah with Bivins, he did have a few losses, but the majority came at the end of his career. While he was the larger man against Charles, Ezzard does have a good HW resume which cannot be over looked. It's a shame that none of his 'prime' is available. I mean he pretty much battered Charles (knocked him down 8 (?) times), even tho Charles gave him some back.

A couple of things that stick out:

-You mention Burley as having out-weighed Bivins by 8 pounds, when the opposite is true.

-You refer to Charles as "the greatest Light Heavyweight of all time" and a "pound for pound kingpin" at the time Bivins beat him, when in fact at the time he was a somewhat green Middleweight by comparison, along with being the smaller man. I doubt you meant to do this, but it seems to over-glorify the victory, as good as it was.

Nice effort on the whole, though.

Mike Tyson, and I base that on nothing other than pure bias.

The Burley thing was a genuine mistake.

But I never said that Charles was considered the greatest LHW ever WHEN Bivins beat him, I merely said that Ezzard is the greatest LHW ever, and that Bivins beat him.

Ruddock?
I mean yeah, he's an ATG and one of the best heavyweights ever, but certainly nowhere the greatest of all time. You have to understand that there are many, many more fighters more worthy of that prestigious title.

He doesn't have the resume or longevity to deserve it. He was at the top until '86-'89. That's only three years.
I'm a Tyson fan myself, but it makes me cringe when people flatly say things like the one you quoted.

And maybe Ali.

IMO these are the only fighters that can lay claim to being the GOAT
Maybe Ali? Lol wow. Ali imo is the greatest fighter of all times. Hes fought a harder division in the heavyweight with the resumes of norton, liston, paterson, frazier, young dangerous foreman. And ali 3 wars with fraizer in which In the 3rd fight is easily the top 3 or number 1 greatest fights of all times.
