Saw this kid spar yesterday and it was like watching a mundine clone. Very athletic, one of those guys with natural instincts and athleticism.
Apparently he was a touted amateur before coming over to try his hand as a pro. He is with george reno and is on chocs card in newcastle. He's a middleweight with height and reach and punches from all angles. just an all round awkward style. I think he will be a handful for most opponents but of course natural talent is only part of the puzzle...have to see how he handles the pro game. But he looks a talent. |

Kegs,
See if you can catch a stream on october 22 and check out a puerto rican kid thomas dulorme. He.is.a.future.star. He fights fernando angulo's former stable mate charlie navaro. Only had a dozen fights but i wouldnt back against him against anyone not named floyd or pac. He's fast, can punch and is just a very special talent. Strange promotional set up....he's under shaw, dibella and a local rican guy. So effectively three promoters. Its all part of that "Team Puerto Rico" thing they have created. Here's a few pics [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] If you got time, check him out on youtube. Plenty of footage there. |

Looks very impressive indeed. Depending what i do on october 22 i will try my best to see his bout on a stream or get a copy later. Yeah i heard Dulorme & a couple other Ricans with the odd 3 way promotional setup. Hopefully he has a long career ahead of him. |

. If that record only made him a 'run of the mill amatuer', I would hate to see your expectation on a 'great amatuer'. He has been out of boxing in more recent times due to motivational issues but there is no doubt Chocs camp will be right behind him from here on in.Rockys last fight was about 2 and a half years ago for an Australian Title. The fight lasted about 40secs. He didn't throw a right nor any head punches. The fight ended with only 4 or 5 savage left rips to the other blokes body. Stav has been posting on his fan page and is very very confident. He says he is as fit as he's ever been and is very confident of winning. Trouble is, Rocky is very comfortable fighting at 75kg and will weigh in near enough to that whilst the heaviest Stav has fought at is 71kg. I don't believe this fight will last the first round. Rocky will have advantages in height, reach, stamina, speed and power. All my info is from a very reliable source so get on it and watch this bloke because he will certainly be a star of the future. |

Expect this might throw the cat amongst the pigeons.
At the moment head to head over 4 rounds Rocky would give 'The Pioneer" and Daniel Geale all that they could handle. |

The punch that impressed me was his lead right uppercut. He throws it from a distance but he has the reach and speed to land it. Not many can land that punch.
From what i saw, he is a bit of a sucker for catching right hands over his low jab. Thats something he needs work on. And as with any young kid with potential who turns pro....putting labels on them like " future star" can be a bit over zealous and bombastic. Its best to wait to see how they handle going 8, 10 rounds with decent opposition before you get a true guide. Lots of kids with am backgrounds look a million dollars over 4 rds sparring and early pro fights. The important part is whether they can keep it all together over longer fights against fighters who ask questions of them. |
