Kindelan is one of the few loyal bxers who chose not to defect from cuba, you cant turn pro in cuba unfortunately, hence why guys like gamboa, Solis, Gilmero rod, Casamayor had to defect/leave cuba to turn pro, basically those guys will never be alloed back to cuba, they are seen as traitors,.

Then there are guys like Roberto Cammerelle who make more money by satying Am, in italy the pro boxing scene is not good and you make more money as a top am then you do as a pro, so i have been told anyway, Money and age are the main reasons in my opinion.

i dont know why they dont let there guys turn pro, i think id would be wicked if they did, there would be an explosion of talent, and it would probably stop them from leaving the country. but its something to do with communism i guess.

If they don't it is because they value their families current lives more than their own escape possibilities. Some of the F'rs that just leave, leave their families in very bad circumstances. You are much better off being a family member of an upstanding medalist than a defector. Even the ones who try to defect and then get caught, wind up being punished. Some are never allowed to compete again. They probably lose all or a lot of their perks. That has to be a tough choice to make, better life for yourself and a worse life for your familiy, or just stay and do what you can to keep your fam in the best circumstances possible.

It's not only communism.
It's also fact that not all good amateurs are good pro's.

Here we had a Heavyweight in the 80's and 90's that won 3 straight bronze medals at the Olympics, but he knew he wouldn't stand a chance in the pro ranks.

Cuz they were bronzes.

Cuban boxers do not to pro because of politics in cuba - they are not allowed to professionally compete, so they can either stay as amateurs, or defect (leave the country, gain asylum somewhere else, this will mean leaving their families behind).

Bit of a catch 22.

Amateur boxers make money? Surely that is a contradiction in terms?

I dont think thats true, Balado, savon, ariel hernandez, juan carlos lemus, hector vinent, maikro romero, kindelan, jorg gutierrez, are all olympic gold medalists several of which are multiple gold medal winners from the last 20 years who never went pro, plus there are loads of silver and bronze medal winners and world amateur championship winners that never went pro.
The vast majority of cuban pros arent actually the top amateurs, although this is starting to change with solis gamboa and bartelemi going pro
