You know, I was just thinking the other day how crappy it must be for female boxers sometimes. It just seems like the girls at my gym get shortchanged a lot of the time, not intentionally or anything, but I think it's just because there is fewer of them and most of the trainers are male and they'd just rather work with the guys. For example just last night there was a group of us working together, just doing some back-and-forth drills, and there's this woman who's there at the same time and she's been there awhile and you can tell she wants to get in on it but she's unsure if she should or if the trainer would want her to and whatnot.

Are there even any other women at your gym to spar with Amy?

Thanks!
I have sparring after practice 2 or 3 times per week. It varies from 1-2 minute rounds. I try to get the guys to do 3 2-minute rounds if possible unless my boxers are kids then I try to get them to do 3 or more 1 minute rounds.

Why don't you spar with Kolya? He will have to be careful not to hit too hard but it would be a good additional workout for you.

That sounds about the same as what my coach makes the competing members of my gym do. He throws me and a few others in with them after each other, but they spar each workout (5 times a week).

I have a 13 year old girl that's been training over a month. She is my 10 year old boys main sparring partner. She is tougher than her 12 and 13 year old boy cousins. She also outweighs Jerry by about 30 pounds. She is a very good sparring partner for him.

There have been a few girls over the last two years but they usually quit right away. (either after sparring once, or before they are even ready to spar)
There is a 13 year old kid who's close to my size but all he does is either run away, load up on huge right hand rabbit punches or throw a 10-punch combo to the bladder.

We do once in a while, but all he does is jab over the top of my gloves and crush my confidence.

I try to go easier and not, but it's really hard for me to keep my legs bent enough so I'm at a more reasonable height. You should spar Steve sometime.

I was going to ask him last night if he wanted to, then I could go as hard as I want. (although, I don't want to risk breaking my hands)

Height doesn't matter, it's reach. You don't have to make it easier on her, she'll learn to fight small. Just don't hit hard, there's a big difference in strength between males and females.
