Default Am I killing my feet? Do I need specific shoes for roadwork-

I've been doing my roadwork on my Air Force I's for quite a while now, I also have a pair of Jordans that I run with occasionally.

I've been considering getting a new pair specifically for running, but is it necessary?

If you run often, then you really should.

old school fighters used to run in army boots, but id recommend getting some proper running shoes - not only will it help your feet but your knees and other joints as well

My first pair of running shoes were the cheapest ones i could find at footlocker and my knees would be really sore afterwards. I went to a store selling only running shoes and the lady helped me pick out a pair that would be best for my feet and its helped a lot

Guys kill me with this. Spend hundreds on jays/clothes for STYLING, but then won't spend crap on jays for doing stuff that will actually ruin their body. WTF?

Man go buy yourself some New Balance. Get a good pair and you probably won't have to buy any more for a few YEARS depending on how much you run. New Balance 880, 1080, 1260, 1226 for pure runners. Since you are training in flats? Maybe go with 1011 XTRs. Whatever you do save the Force 1's and Jordans for stuntin'.

Don't buy some Nike running shoes (or any of that other BS at the mall) because anyone who actually does distance? Doesn't run in Nikes unless they are sponsored.

Shoes make a hell of a difference! I heard that you should replace your shoes every 350-550 miles (not sure how much of a big company marketing conspiracy that is though...)

I'm pretty sure there's a science for these sorts of things. Shoes require lots of R&D to remain competitive.

Did my roadwork today in a pair of my brother's asics (he has the same foot size). Felt pretty good.

What do you guys think of minimalist shoes, like the ones with zero drop and little to no cushion? Do they really promote good posture (thus reducing risk of injury)?

Did roadwork like a beast when I first started, then I realized that it wasn't helping me much- in addtion to blowing out my knees.

Switched to doing hill sprints and definitely noticed improvement in my endurance. Maybe try that.
